Is The James Franco & Seth Rogen Parody of Kanye West Video Homophobic?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCGZ6tJdtmc

Although the James Franco & Seth Rogen parody of Kanye West new video is considered funny is it really? The immediate reaction people have is Franco & Rogen are just being funny making fun of rapper Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s arrogance.

Franco and Rogen are homophobes, except they utilize humour as a mask to conceal their anti gay prejudice.

Franco has used male homosexuality as a gimmick to get free publicity, yet he clearly has no respect for gay men!

The subliminal message is still homophobia against male homosexuality is palatable if the homophobes are young white heterosexual male actors. We live in a racist, homophobic world where the obnoxious behaviour of white heterosexual men is giving a free pass. Imagine, if two young black male actors made this parody video? Would the mainstream media and public be so accepting of it or would they scorn them?

Some people might argue, that it is simply a joke not be taken seriously. However, humour has a subtext, a message that is beneath the surface. The homophobia Franco and Rogen are engendering is that male homosexuality is wrong.

The anti gay message Franco and Rogen are spreading must be challenged and not dismissed as just comedy.

The general public is laughing at the fact two famous young male actors are kissing and being affectionate with each other. People are not just laughing at Kanye West, they also have a platform to being homophobic because Franco and Rogen provided the space for this to occur. Male homosexuality is ridiculed, gay men being affectionate with each other is seen as a joke. Since Franco and Rogen are both white, heterosexual men, they utilize their white male privilege to humiliate gay men.

Once again, two men kissing is considered funny and disgusting at the same time. Although, James Franco claims to be an ally of the gay community he has a propensity to be an opportunist. Franco is no friend of the gay male community, he utilizes male homosexuality to shock his heterosexual audience. James Franco is a bigot, but his bigotry is covert not overt. Franco’s art about gay male sexuality which he manipulates for his personal game is an example of his prejudice.

Since Franco is heterosexual, some gay men fall for Franco’s prejudice they give him a free pass for mocking male homosexuality.

Franco has white male skin privilege and since he is handsome, gay men ignore his anti gay prejudice. However, just because Franco is a good looking man, does this give him a pass for being a jerk?

Franco isn’t as gay positive as some gay men assume. For instance, Franco’s short film Interior Leather Bar, was created to alarm heterosexual audiences since he was recreating portions of the 1980 cult gay classic Cruising. Of course, Franco was not involved in any of the gay male sex scenes.

Franco’s so called art is meant to shock, he feels comfortable exploiting male homosexuality for his own personal fame. However, Franco won’t get too close to male homosexuality and he is quick to point out he isn’t gay. Franco’s coy attitude about his sexuality is lame and pathetic. Franco needs a new gimmick and move on from male homosexuality he is a coward.

Only a coward would claim to be an ally of the gay male community yet consistently use homosexuality to alarm the general public. There is no substance behind Franco’s art, it lacks true meaning.

Male homosexuality is just a prop for Franco, a joke, not to be taken seriously. In addition, since Franco has never clarified his true sexuality, he is assumed to be heterosexual. Franco utilizes his heterosexual male privilege to mock, humiliate, and discriminate against gay men.James Franco is the enemy of gay men he is not an ally.

Indie Wire Cool News: James Franco Is Going To Remake Classic 1980 Gay S&M Film Cruising As An Art Project!!!

BY OLIVER LYTTELTON

Is it just us who find it increasingly hard to get enthused about James Franco‘s new projects? We appreciate his broad-mindedness; the way he can go from blockbusters like “Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes” to cheap action movies like the  Jason Statham vehicle “Homefront” to indies like “About Cherry” to his own experimental directorial efforts like “Sal.” But it’s partly the sheer volume of the announcements — with something new coming every few days, seemingly — and partly how obscure some of them sound, that’s given us something close to Franco fatigue.

Still, it’s hard to be too cross about someone with such adventurous tastes, and his latest project might be his most eyebrow-raising to date. According to our colleagues at the Indiewire mothership, Franco has teamed up with avant-garde gay porn director Travis Mathews for “James Franco’s Cruising,” an installation/film inspired by William Friedkin’s controversial 1980 Al Pacino thriller “Cruising.”

Apparently, the project began with Franco wanting to remake the Friedkin film (which involves Pacino as a cop delving into the gay S&M underground scene to track down a serial killer), but he was unable to get the rights. As such, he sought out Mathews, whose earlier films like “I Want Your Love” have featured explicit sexual scenes, to co-direct a film that would focus on a recreation of the 40 minutes that were cut out of the original film (and have since been destroyed), as well as being “an examination of people trying to make sense of Franco as star figure,” according to Mathews, making it entirely different from all the other self-regarding, navel-gazing projects Franco’s made (let’s not forget, it’s barely a week since the actor decided he was going to make an art film about himself and Lindsay Lohan, and on Monday a Samsung commercial directed by and starring the actor was revealed).

Partly reconstructing the content of the scenes by interviewing extras from the original film, the project came together at lightning speed; it’s only two months since their first conversations, and yet Mathews recently delivered a cut to Franco, and is likely to debut it at a gallery show next month, before prepping a longer cut for the festival circuit in early 2013. The director told Indiewire “He knew he wanted real gay sex in it. His people went looking for a filmmaker who had filmed real gay sex, and I suspect someone who would complement his vision. We talked about why we would be interested in still looking at this film.  We talked about his interest in the film and his interest more broadly in so many gay-themed stories and visionaries. He’s worked with so many in front of and behind the cameras over the years.”

Again, we admire Franco’s forward-thinking nature, and the way in which he’s able, as an A-lister, to engage with gay subject matter, but we can’t help wishing he’d engage with the world around him, rather than using these projects to continually examine his own star persona in a way that isn’t particularly interesting to anyone that isn’t James Franco. Hopefully his currently-casting-up adaptation of William Faulkner‘s “As I Lay Dying,” or his wrapped take on Cormac McCarthy‘s “Child Of God,” will be more of a step in that direction. In the meantime, we cautiously await the debut of “James Franco’s Cruising” sometime early next year; we’re sure Disney are thrilled it’s landing so near to their megabudget family-targeting Franco vehicle “Oz The Great & Powerful“…

Blind Item: James Franco & Jake Gyllenhaal Were An Item But Drama Ended Homosexual Relationship.

[LaineyGossip] Both are acclaimed actors. One’s an actor you find super cute. He’s popular and adorable, like dimples and old fashioned dresses. The other’s an actor I find super gross. And dramatic. And full of his own shit. He fronts like he’s dark. He’s difficult. The work is often beneath him. The work is often taken away from him because the attitude that it is beneath him is so often intolerable. The two had a torrid affair. Which is nothing unusual, of course not. Except that dimples broke up with drama and drama practically had a psychotic break. There was a month-long spiral. A couple of times he came close to really hurting himself. He also threatened to expose them both, though no one is taking that seriously. As a result, his heartbreaker is trying, ignorantly, to go back to the other side of his bisexuality.

My Guess

Cute Dimples: Jake Gyllenhaal

Gross Drama: James Franco

The blind says one gay guy is cute and simple while the other man is dramatic. Jake Gyllenhaal is the cute dimples guy and James Franco is definitely seems full of himself and he presents the image he is a tortured artist. After the actor Brad Renfro died Franco actually cut himself and he designed a switch blade in memory of Renfro. Franco has made it very blatant that he’s at least bisexual. Last year, in an interview with Playboy magazine Franco insinuated that he’s bisexual. Franco is also very passionate about gay and lesbian studies. I am not suggesting a heterosexual man could not be interested in Queer studies. However, anyone who has seen Franco’s biopic film The Broken Tower about gay poet Hart Crane can read between the lines. Franco is very passionate about male homosexuality and I believe he uses art as a medium to explore his bisexuality.
