All of the Lance Armstrong sycophants need to realize just because a top athlete never failed a drug test doesn’t mean they didn’t cheat. The US Anti Doping Agency has evidence and believes Armstrong used EPO and blood transfusions. Armstrong also cleared all his drug tests like Marion Jones.
Floyd Landis one of Armstrong’s former friend and a former Tour de France champion also said that he saw Armstrong cheat. Landis was stripped of his Tour de France title and I believe it is only fair Lance Armstrong face the same fate.
Landis also lied and so did Marion Jones so it is only a matter of time before Lance Armstrong is stripped of his titles.
People want to believe Armstrong is a saint because he is some hero in America for battling cancer. However, Armstrong’s superhuman results winning the Tour de France seven times leaves me suspicious. I commend the US Anti Doping Agency for not capitulating to public pressure and going after Armstrong. Armstrong is a drug cheat just like Floyd Landis and Marion Jones!
ITN News: Stephen Lawrence Murder Trial Verdict Two White Men Convicted Of Murdering Black British Teenager.
I am not sure if people outside of the United Kingdom have heard about the Stephen Lawrence murder case? In the year 1993, an unarmed seventeen year old black British teenager Stephen Lawrence was brutally murdered by white male youths.
Stephen was waiting at a bus stop with a friend when he was stabbed to death. The Stephen Lawrence murder case shocked England and forced the British people to examine racism in British society. The Stephen Lawrence case forced the British police force to admit to racism within their ranks.
Finally in January 2012, due to the persistence of Stephen’s parents after eighteen long years they obtained justice. Two white men Gary Dobson and David Norris were convicted of murdering Stephen. When I think of Stephen Lawrence if he were alive today he would still be a young man only in his thirties. Maybe Stephen would be married, have a wife and kids. A young life was extinguished due to bigotry and prejudice.
However, even though two white men were convicted of Stephen’s murder the other murderers are still at large. The British newspaper the Daily Mail published the photographs of all the white male suspects. The British public knows the identities of the other killers. Sadly, Stephen Lawrence parents divorced due to the grief and strain of the murder case. I commend Stephen’s parents for fighting so hard and courageously and challenging the racist British police force and justice system. Even though, Gary Dobson and David Norris were convicted Stephen is still dead he’s never going to come back.
The Stephen Lawrence case is very similar to the Trayvon Martin tragedy taking place right now in America. Both Stephen and Travyon were unarmed black male teenagers, both were only seventeen when they were killed. I am disgusted by Fox News and numerous media outlets attempting to paint Travyon as a bad kid. Trayvon made mistakes in his young life but he did not deserve to die in cold blood. It is not surprising but still depressing how truly racist this world still is despite the progress of the civil rights movement.
George Zimmerman and his wife both lied to the judge about their finances which certainly hurts their credibility. I sincerely hope and pray it doesn’t take eighteen years for Trayvon Martin’s family to get justice for the murder of their son. I can’t imagine the grief, the pain, and feelings of despair that Travyon Martin’s parents are going through right now.
Are Poland & Ukraine Too Poor, Racist, & Uncivilized To Host International Sports Event Euro 2012?
I am disgusted and angered by the racism that minority sport fans and professional athletes are being subjected to in Poland and Ukraine.
Are Poland and Ukraine too poor, racist, and uncivilized to host an international sports event?
It is a fair question because the level of white supremacy taking place at Euro 2012 is shocking.
What if the violence becomes fatal and a minority sports fan or a black soccer player is murdered?
Would the world still ignore the pathetic hooligans?
I am serious the level of violence and racism at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine is escalating and something needs to be done about it.
Poland and Ukraine’s international reputation is going down the toilet. It is so offensive to see innocent people being attacked by racists chanting Nazi salutes.
It is also surprising to be honest that this blatant bigotry is taking place in the poorer region of Europe.
Poland and Ukraine are not a part of Western Europe the and perhaps due to social problems within these countries people need a scapegoat?
Racism is a global problem but it is shocking to see this uncivilized behaviour taking place at an international sports event. Whomever decided to have Poland and Ukraine host Euro 2012 should be ashamed of themselves!
I commend the media for not ignoring this abhorrent racism because it should not be tolerated. It isn’t enough for people to say racism is wrong there needs to be swift action to deal with this. I am concerned about the black football athletes that just want to perform yet are subjected to bigotry and white supremacy.
French Open Women’s Final: Maria Sharapova Blasts Sara Errani 6-3 6-2 To Win Career Grand Slam!!!
The only chance Sara Errani had of beating Maria Sharapova today is if she got tight and beat herself. However, Sharapova was focused, ruthless, and just over powered Errani winning the French Open 6-3 6-2. Maria also won the career grand slam she joins an exclusive group of only ten women to hold all four grand slam singles titles. Errani is a good fighter and a talented player but she lacks the weapons to bother Maria. First, Errani’s serve is just pathetic she usually serves at eighty miles per hour. Sharapova crushed Errani’s first and second serves into submission.
Next, Errani had difficult with Maria’s pace she never faced a woman in the draw who hits the ball so hard and consistent. Sharapova’s movement has improved dramatically she is also more patient on the clay. Sharapova will return to the number one ranking in women’s tennis on Monday while Errani will reach number ten.
Sharapova is an attractive young woman and she is a tennis champion. Anna Kournikova was criticized back in the late 1990s early 2000s because she had a lot of endorsements but lacked the drive to win. It is unfortunate that female athletes are often judged on their appearance and not on their athletic abilities. Heterosexual male consumers of sports control the advertising agencies and the media companies. Heterosexual men place emphasis on women athletes looks and should focus more on their skills as athletes.
Women’s tennis needs a dominant force and if Maria remains motivated she can win a lot more slams. The veterans are retiring or are fading fast. Serena Williams is thirty years old and hasn’t won a grand slam in two years. Serena was bounced in the first round of the French Open. Venus Williams lost in the second round of the French and she is also finished she will never win another grand slam. Kim Clijsters is retiring after the US Open in September. Who can challenge Sharapova consistently?
Perhaps Victoria Azarenka can be a threat to Maria but her serve is weak. Petra Kvitova the reigning Wimbledon champion has played terrible tennis this year and has not won a title. Li Na of China has disappointed tennis fans and has dropped out of the WTA top ten. Agnieszka Radwanska is a solid player but she lacks power to really challenge the top players. Radwanska has to hope the top women make errors in order to beat them.
Samantha Stosur has the big serve, huge forehand, and solid volleys but she is mentally fragile. Stosur always capitulates under pressure she never lives up to the expectations of the public and media. Stosur’s semifinal loss to Sara Errani was shocking because she had a 5-0 edge in their head to head. I am not sure if Samantha can win another grand slam? Stosur has the talent but she lacks the self belief that she can be a major force in women’s tennis.
Although Maria Sharapova is a diva she is still the only young player on the WTA Tour who has a champion’s mentality. Many young women such as Ana Ivanovic, Li Na, Svetlana Kuzntesova, Petra Kvitova, Samantha Stosur can’t handle the pressure of being a champion.
Time will tell if Maria can stay healthy and focused and if she does she can dominate the WTA Tour.
French Open Men’s Semifinals: Novak Djokovic Destroys Roger Federer 6-4 7-5 6-3 Advances To French Open Final!
Novak Djokovic blasted Roger Federer 6-4 7-5 6-3 in the second men’s semifinal at the French Open. The writing is on the wall for Federer, he is turning thirty-one in August and I can’t see him winning anymore slams. Federer hasn’t won a grand slam since the 2010 Australian Open.
Federer’s got to be thinking that his time is running out to win grand slams.
Federer is still the third ranked male tennis player in the world but he just can’t seem to beat Rafael and Novak in the slams anymore.
What can Roger possibly do when the number one and number two players in the world are better than him?
Djokovic and Nadal are only twenty five and twenty six years of age. By contrast, Federer is only going to get older he’s not as sharp on the court.
Some people believe Federer’s focus changed when he got married and had children with his wife Mirka. I believe Federer will continue to compete for maybe one more year but he has nothing left to prove.
The only way Federer is going to win a slam is he has to play perfect tennis to defeat Djokovic and Nadal and they must have a bad day. Federer is a great champion but today he looked lethargic and confused on the court. Roger didn’t change tactics he tried to out hit Novak but that’s a stupid strategy. Novak is six years younger than Roger and he’s a lot quicker and more powerful. Novak used the correct strategy attacking Roger’s one-handed backhand and pummeling him into submission.
Meanwhile, in the first men’s semifinal Rafael Nadal destroyed his close friend and Spanish countryman David Ferrer 6-2 6-2 6-1.
French Open Women Semifinals: Italian Sara Errani Upsets Samantha Stosur 7-5 1-6 6-3 In A Shocking Upset!!!!
Once again, Samantha Stosur the sixth ranked female tennis player in the world capitulates and loses in the French Open semifinals. Stosur crumbled under the pressure and lost in a shocking upset to Italian Sara Errani 7-5 1-6 6-3.
Errani has a terrible serve her fastest serves are less than 100 miles per hour. Stosur didn’t attack Errani’s serve enough in this match! Stosur needed to also hit the ball behind Errani more since she is very quick.
Prior to this match, Stosur had a 5-0 record against Errani and this suggests that once again Stosur lost due to lack of mental toughness. One of the complaints tennis fans have against Samantha is her inability to live up to expectations. Samantha always plays best when no one expects her to win. However, once Samantha is under pressure and the favourite she always loses.
Stosur was the heavy favourite to reach her second French Open final. Two years ago, Stosur capitulated under the pressure and lost in the French final to another Italian Francesca Schiavone in straight sets.
I am disappointed in Stosur because she had a huge opportunity to make reverse the spectacular upset in the 2010 French Open final. I thought after Samantha won the US OPEN last year against Serena Williams she had overcome her mental demons.
Errani will face Maria Sharapova in the women’s final on Saturday she destroyed Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova 6-3 6-3 in only seventy seven minutes.
Former NFL Star Wade Davis Comes Out Of The Closet & Declares He Is Gay!!!
Wade Davis is very brave to come out of the closet and declare his homosexuality! He has a lot of courage! I hope Wade Davis decision to come out will inspire other male professional athletes to declare their homosexuality in the public sphere. Davis makes a cogent argument that for professional male athletes they have a lot to lose in terms of endorsements.
Homophobia in sports I believe isn’t just with the general public the people behind the scenes the agents, marketing agencies hold the power. The truth is, until a major male sports star comes out of the closet I don’t see pro sports changing anytime soon. By contrast, in women’s golf and tennis the WTA Tour and LPGA has a history of lesbian sports champions.
For many male and female sports fans they just don’t want to believe their favourite male athlete couple possibly be gay. Can you imagine if the NBA, NHL, NFL, had a plethora of gay men coming out of the closet? The world would be a better place because the sports stars would prove gay men can excel in professional sports. There is a homophobic myth that all gay men aren’t masculine, or strong, or powerful. The truth is, there are gay men in pro sports but they fear losing their careers by coming out.
I think the male athletes can learn from the lesbian champions such as Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King, Amelie Mauresmo, Patty Sheehan, Gigi Fernandez, Renee Stubbs, Lisa Raymond. The lesbian athletes also experienced homophobia but they overcame the prejudice and made it acceptable for women to come out in sports.
