Grandpa Bob Rae Clears The Path For Sexy Justin Trudeau To Become New Leader Of Liberal Party In Canada!!!
Bob Rae the interim Liberal leader made the right decision last week to not run to be the full time leader of the party. Bob Rae is sixty four years old he is simply too old to reach a younger generation. Rae is not popular in the province of Ontario he was the former Premier of the New Democratic Party back in the early 1990s. Rae is not popular in Quebec either.
The Liberal party needs someone young, intelligent, and attractive to breathe new life into Canadian politics. Justine Trudeau of course is only forty years old, he has political experience but he also has the youth necessary to reach a younger Canadian generation.
Trudeau is bilingual, he grew up in Quebec and he has an effervescent personality which can translate into votes.
Trudeau is still reticent about whether he will run for the Liberal party leadership. I strongly believe the Liberal party needs a younger person forty or under to be the new leader. The public is tired of old farts such as Bob Rae.
Surprising News: Canadian Psycho Luka Rocco Magnotta Extradition From Germany To Canada Could Take Years!!!
Luka Rocco Magnotta’s extradition from Germany could take years, lawyer says
OTTAWA—It could take up to two years for murder suspect Luka Rocco Magnotta to be extradited from Germany to stand trial here. More, if he decides to fight every step of the way.
For those who’d like nothing more than to hear nothing more about the narcissistic Canadian who was arrested in Berlin surfing news about himself, get ready.
“It’s the flipside of the Karl Heinz Schreiber case,” said Vancouver lawyer Gary Botting, who wrote the Canadian Extradition Law Practice.
In an interview with the Star, Botting said Schreiber’s 10-year battle to fight extradition from Canada to face tax evasion charges generated “huge headlines” in Germany every time. “I think the same thing is going to happen here.”
The Canada-Germany Extradition Treaty was never formally ratified, but it is the guiding legal document and lays out the principles that apply, as well as a timeline of what to expect, said Botting.
Under it, Canada and Germany agree to extradite individuals charged with an act that is a criminal offence in each. Germany does not extradite anyone to face the death penalty. That doesn’t apply here as Canada doesn’t have the death penalty. Unlike Canada, Germany does not extradite its nationals, preferring to prosecute within Germany. Magnotta is a Canadian citizen.
Canada has 45 days from Magnotta’s arrest to file a formal extradition request, called a “record of the case,” which triggers the judicial proceedings.
Germany would then schedule an extradition hearing, possibly assigning Magnotta a lawyer if he cannot afford one. A defence lawyer may request time to become briefed, so Botting estimates it might take six months before a hearing is held.
Magnotta has 30 days after a decision of the court to appeal to the local minister of justice. He could argue he would not get a fair trial in Canada or he could argue he is not fit to stand trial, says Botting. The minister has 90 days before making a decision whether to surrenderMagnotta, which can be extended for another 60 days. The suspect then has 30 days to appeal a minister’s decision to surrender him to Canada to a court of appeal — a process that could take another six months “because courts are busy and lawyers have to prepare factums.”
After that, says Botting, the suspect could appeal a negative ruling to the national court of Germany, the equivalent of the Supreme Court of Canada.
He guessed it would be at least 18 months to 2 years “if every deadline is met” before a decision is made, more if Magnotta decides to drag it out.
“Motivation is a huge factor here. He won’t be motivated to come back to Canada right away necessarily,” says Botting. “If he’s publicity-seeking, that’s exactly playing into his hands. He’s going to fight it every step of the way.”
Moreover, says Botting, extraditions are a hot topic in Europe right now, with a controversy roaring around the use of European warrants — created to ease inter-country transfers of wanted criminals, much the way Canadian provinces easily transfer suspects across provincial boundaries. Sweden and Norway almost never extradite anymore, and Germany’s following suit, he said.
Canada has extradited Schreiber, Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel and Walter Ebke, a resident of the Northwest Territories wanted on terrorism charges in Germany. However, Botting does not recall a recent case where Germany extradited a citizen to face justice in Canada.
Justice Minister Rob Nicholson’s office issued a statement Monday saying Magnotta was arrested on “an Interpol Red notice which under German law constitutes a provisional request from Canada for his extradition. Pursuant to the Canada-Germany Treaty on extradition, Canada has to now submit a formal request for his extradition accompanied by documentation outlining the evidence supporting the request.”
“Officials with the International Assistance Group (IAG) are working expeditiously in conjunction with officials from the Attorney General of Quebec (the prosecuting authority) to prepare the materials in support of the request. Mr. Magnotta is scheduled to make a first appearance in court in Berlin tomorrow morning,” said spokeswoman Julie DiMambro in an email.
“Canada will continue to be advised of the progress of this matter through the German courts.”
Breaking News: Canadian Psycho Cat Killer & Accused Murderer Luka Rocco Magnotta Captured In Berlin Germany!!!
Luka Rocco Magnotta arrested in Berlin, police confirm
The manhunt for body-parts suspect Luka Rocco Magnotta, is over. The Montrealer, whose image was believed to have been captured earlier at a security checkpoint area in France, has been arrested in Berlin, police confirm.APLuka Magnotta, the fugitive “Canadian psycho” killer, has been nabbed in Berlin, German police say.
Magnotta was picked up in an Internet café in the German capital, the newspaper Bild reports.
Berlin police have confirmed the arrest.
Earlier, Montreal police said they expected the 29-year-old’s lust for attention would be his downfall sooner or later.
Magnotta had been the subject of an international manhunt for the gruesome killing and dismemberment of a student in Montreal. The self-described porn star had first been detected in France by police using his cellphone as a beacon. They even managed to find a hotel room where he had been staying.
“The man was seen in France, that’s what French authorities told us,” police spokesman Ian Lafreniere told reporters. Lafreniere cautioned that Magnotta may no longer be in that country, and wouldn’t rule out the possibility he had headed elsewhere in Europe or could eventually try to return to Canada.
“He can travel, he’s someone who has been known to travel, so we’re not taking any chances and we want to keep an open mind,” Lafreniere said. “We’ve received more than 360 tips, it’s huge, people really want to help.”
Magnotta, dubbed the Canadian psycho in the European press, is wanted in the gruesome slaying of Jun Lin, 33, a Chinese student at Montreal’s Concordia University. Lin’s torso was found in a suitcase left for garbage collection outside Magnotta’s Montreal apartment last week. Other severed body parts, including a hand and a foot, were mailed to the offices of the federal Conservatives and Liberals.
Police believe Lin was killed and his body dismembered either on May 24 or 25 in a Montreal apartment. A 10-minute video showing what transpired was then posted online.
French media reported Sunday that personal belongings of the porn actor were found in a hotel in suburban Paris. The reports said police discovered pornographic magazines as well as air-sickness bags from the airplane he took to Paris from Montreal.
Le Figaro reported that police were able to pinpoint part of Magnotta’s itinerary through his cellphone activity. It was unclear whether Magnotta was still in the Paris area on Sunday, but Le Figaro reported that authorities had beefed up their presence at railway stations and airports.
Having earlier indicated that Magnotta is good at disguising himself, Lafreniere said Saturday that the suspect could now be anywhere in Europe, though authorities haven’t ruled out the possibility he may be back in Canada.
Police described Magnotta as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall and about 135 pounds, with black hair and blue eyes.
Interpol has issued an international alert out for Magnotta, 29, who was born Eric Clinton Newman and has also used the name Vladimir Romanov. Pictures posted Sunday on Magnotta’s page on the Interpol website show a man with dark hair and a black Mickey Mouse shirt passing through airport security. The airport wasn’t identified.
Magnotta arrived at the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on May 26 and was later identified on surveillance cameras, according to Le Figaro. He was apparently put up for one night by a man who later contacted authorities after realizing who his guest had been.
One published report said Magnotta was spotted in a bar and in a hotel where he spent two nights. Another French newspaper, Le Parisien, quoted the manager of a bar who said Magnotta ordered a soft drink at his establishment last Wednesday night and appeared “very nervous.”
The bar manager said the fugitive left with a man who had an “impressive physique.”
An official in the Paris prosecutor’s office, speaking on condition of anonymity, said police are looking into the alleged sightings but had no additional details.
Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Ottawa has issued a statement advising Chinese visitors to Canada to take safety precautions.

Trayvon Martin Case Update: George Zimmerman Lied To The Judge Revoked Bond He Must Surrender In 48 Hours.
Judge revokes Zimmerman bond, has 48 hours to surrender

- A judge has revoked George Zimmerman’s bond in the Trayvon Martin killing. Mr. Zimmerman has 48 hours to surrender to authorities.
Earlier Friday, prosecutors asked a judge to revoke the bond of the neighbourhood watch volunteer.
Prosecutors said in a motion that 28-year-old Mr. Zimmerman and his family misled them about his finances when testifying during a bail hearing that allowed him to be released from jail on a $150,000 bond. Prosecutor Bernie De la Rionda asked for the revocation during a hearing to help determine if prosecutors and the defence can stop the public release of certain documents in the case.

Reports on Zimmerman’s injuries emerge
During the bond hearing in April, Mr. Zimmerman’s relatives testified they had limited funds. Mr. Zimmerman’s attorney said several days later that he had discovered his client had raised more than $200,000 from a website. At the time of the hearing, about $135,000 had been raised, and that money wasn’t disclosed at the bond hearing.
“This court was led to believe they didn’t have a single penny,” said Prosecutor Bernie De la Rionda. “It was misleading and I don’t know what words to use other than it was a blatant lie.”
Defence attorney Mark O’Mara said it was an innocent misunderstanding and that Mr. Zimmerman wasn’t using that money for his expenses and wasn’t sure what he could use the money for. He said Mr. Zimmerman used the houses of his parents and grandmother as collateral for the bond.
Prosecutors also said in the motion that Mr. Zimmerman didn’t disclose he had a second passport. Mr. Zimmerman turned his passport over to the court at the bond hearing as a measure that would prevent him from fleeing the country.
Mr. Zimmerman is pleading not guilty to second-degree murder and claims self-defence. Mr. Zimmerman shot Mr. Martin last February during a confrontation at a gated community of townhouses in Sanford, Fla., where Mr. Zimmerman lived and where Mr. Martin was visiting his father’s fiancée.
The delay in an arrest for 44 days prompted protests nationwide and led to Sanford’s police chief stepping aside so emotions could cool down.
At Friday’s hearing, Mr. De la Rionda and Mr. O’Mara also asked a judge to stop the public release of witness names and statements made by Mr. Zimmerman to police officers. Those documents normally are part of the public record under Florida law.
“What’s occurring, unfortunately, are cases are being tried in the public sector as opposed to in the courtroom,” Mr. De La Rionda told Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester. “We are in a new age with Twitter, Facebook, and all these things I’ve never heard of before in my career. Everybody gets to find out intimate details about witnesses that never occurred before. Witnesses are going to be reluctant to get involved.”
A consortium of more than a dozen media groups, including The Associated Press, asked the judge to ignore the request, saying such records are presumed to be publicly available under Florida law.
Rachel Fugate, an attorney for the Orlando Sentinel, cited the Casey Anthony trial as an example of a highly publicized case in which a jury was able to be seated despite intense media coverage. The Florida mother was acquitted last year of killing her 2-year-old daughter.
“Discovery in Florida has traditionally been open … and Florida hasn’t encountered problems seating juries and giving defendants fair trials,” Ms. Fugate said.
Mr. O’Mara said Friday on a website that he doesn’t expect the case to be ready for trial until next year.
Mr. O’Mara said he expects to call on 50 witnesses who need to be deposed before he decides whether to file a “stand your ground” motion which would ask for a hearing before a judge without a jury. At the hearing, Mr. Zimmerman would argue self-defence under the Florida law which gives wide latitude to use deadly force rather than retreat in a fight if people believe they are in danger of being killed or seriously injured.
Is African Economist Dambisa Moyo’s Weave Hurting Her Message About African Emancipation From Neocolonialism?
Some Africans are very upset that economist Dambisa Moyo is rocking a weave. Weave politics is a very important issue in the African Disapora.
Dambisa Moyo she is an intelligent, glamorous, Zambian born economist. I think it is wonderful that an African woman is speaking up about African economics and politics.
I respect Dambisa Moyo, her educational credentials cannot be disputed. Ms. Moyo is an expert on the topic of economics and that’s why I believe her book “Dead Aid” is a very important book.
Ms. Moyo’s accomplishments are very impressive, she has a doctorate degree in economics from Oxford University, she also holds a MBA degree from Harvard. In addition, Ms. Moyo holds a MBA in finance and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from American University in Washington D.C.
For centuries, the social constructions of African womanhood has been very negative. African women have been dehumanized since slavery that they are not beautiful, sexually desirable, or feminine.
Of course, black women have challenged the racism, patriarchy, and misogyny. Black women are beautiful, sexually desirable and feminine.
However, the discourse is, black women must conform to whiteness in order to be palatable to the mainstream culture.
Weave politics is a very serious issue. For instance, a few years ago a white female Glamour Magazine editor criticized black women that wear the afro and other natural hair styles such as twists and braids.
Some black women have been fired from their jobs and encountered employment discrimination for not wearing weaves or getting perms to straighten their hair.
Black men we have it easy, we can just walk into a barber shop get a hair cut for twenty dollars and that’s it. For black women, hair is a controversial issue
and yes hair has an impact on the lives of black women and black families.
Some African women believe they must conform to Eurocentric standards of beauty in order to be successful in society. For instance, in the pop culture, Tyra Banks, Beyonce, Venus & Serena Williams, are examples of beautiful black women yet they all wear weaves.
The question remains, why do black women wear weaves when they have their own “natural hair?”
The American pop star John Mayer’s racist and misogynist comments in Playboy Magazine about black women presents a modern example of this dehumanization of black women.
Mayer’s comments attempt to separate black women from their rightful place in femininity. The subliminal messages of Mayer’s comments are that white women are more feminine than black women.
Dambisa Moyo she criticizes white pop stars Madonna, Bono, and Bob Geldof as being “white saviours”. She believes the white celebrities intentions for the African continent are racist and not altruistic.
However, another point to consider is, isn’t Dambisa Moyo also dishonest?
Hair is an important symbol of what a person thinks of herself . A hair style is a presentation, it is an image a person presents to the world.
However, I wonder if some of the complaints about Ms. Moyo’s weave are sexist? After all, why are people paying close attention to Dambisa’s Moyo’s appearance? Should it matter that Dambisa Moyo wears a weave?
Ms. Moyo she wears this brown mop on her head yet it appears to me her mind is still colonized. For instance, Mary J Blige and Beyonce are hypocritical, they construct this image that they are strong black women yet they wear blonde weaves. Mary J Blige and Beyonce are conforming to Eurocentirc standards of beauty. I feel that blonde weaves are not a good look on black women. I believe blonde weaves reinforce images that black women are conforming to white standards of beauty.
Now, for people who don’t know “weave politics” I suggest you watch Chris Rock’s documentary “Good Hair.”
A weave is basically hair, it can be “real hair” which is more expensive or “processed hair”.
A woman can purchase the weave from a store or hair salon and a professional styles the hair to make the weave appear to appear authentic.
Some Africans, believe Ms. Moyo is very hypocritical, that her weave distrupts and blurs her polemical book. Some critics charge Ms. Moyo she is sending mixed messages.
For instance, in Dambisa Moyo’s book “Dead Aid”,she says that African countries must become independent from the Occident. Her argument is the Occidental countries should cut off foreign aid within ten years. According to Ms. Moyo, foreign aid does not allow African economies to grow and be independent from neocolonialism .
Ms. Moyo argues that foreign aid creates a cycle of dependency and allows corrupt African governments to obtain “free money.” Ms. Moyo believes the corrupt African countries are not developing the infrastructure within their own countries. For instance, foreign agencies are creating schools, providing health care, and education.
Ms. Moyo’s message is that paternalism, racism, and neocolonialism are the root cause for foreign aid. The Occident wants to keep African nations poor in order to maintain the revenue that African countries generate for their economies.
However, Ms. Moyo’s African critics charge she is a hypocrite, she is preaching to the world that Africans must become independent from Europeans yet Ms. Moyo conforms to Eurocentric standards of beauty.
Shouldn’t Ms. Moyo take her own advice and cut off her weave and wear a natural hairstyle? Did Ms. Moyo’s publicists or agents tell her that a weave is important to sell her book to a white audience?
I am not suggesting that Ms. Moyo should not wear the weave if this is the hair style she feels most comfortable with. However, I can also see the argument of the African people they believe Dambisa Moyo’s appearance cannot be separated from her message.
The Fate Of Canada Is In A Black Woman’s Hands
Canadian politics is usually so boring and dry there has always been a sense that the Canadian public is apathetic to federal political issues until this week. The opposition parties are dissatisfied with the Conservative party of Canada’s attempts to remove a guaranteed subsidy that allows political parties money to fundraise their election campaigns.
The Elections Act allows federal political parties to receive a taxpayer subsidy of $1.75 per year for every vote they receive in a general election; that figure has been indexed to inflation and is currently $1.95. To qualify, a party must receive at least two per cent of all votes cast in a general election, or five per cent of the votes cast in an electoral district in which it ran a candidate. The Conservatives will propose that this subsidy be eliminated.
Here are the estimated subsidies each party received in the 12 months prior to Sept. 30, 2008:
Conservatives:$10.5 million
Liberals:$8.75 million
NDP:$5.06 million
Bloc Quebecois:$3.03 million
Green party:$1.3 million
Fundraising
If the public subsidy is eliminated, political parties will have to rely on their own fundraising to pay for party expenses and election campaigns. Here is what each party raised in the 12-month period ending Sept. 30:
Conservatives: $19.7 million
Liberals:$5.6 million
NDP:$5.1 million
Green party:$1.5 million
Bloc Quebecois:$861,000
The Conservative Party of Canada would have a clear advantage if the guaranteed subsidy was removed and this is why the other political parties are furious.
Right now on Parliament Hill there is a storm of controversy because three political parties are attempting to seize power and overthrow the conservative party of Canada. According to Canadian law the three opposition parties do have a legal right to defeat the Conservative Party of Canada since they have a minority government.
According to a recent Angus Reid poll 64% of Canadians do not support Stephane Dion but 53% are against the Conservative party’s economic policy. The political cyclone is so tense that in a desperate bid to maintain power Prime Minister Stephen Harper has addressed the nation at 7pm Eastern time on television. The Liberal leader Stephane Dion will address the Canadian public after Harper on Canadian television. The Conservative Party of Canada is also airing political ads slamming the proposed coalition.
The Liberal party lead by Stephane Dion, the New Democratic Party lead by Jack Layton and the separatist party the Bloc Quebecois lead by Gilles Duceppe are forming a coalition.
The last time this kind of political crisis had occurred in Canada was in the year 1926. In 1926 Lord Byng of Vimy, then-governor general, decided not to call elections when Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King asked him to, giving Arthur Meighen, whose party had won more seats in the election, a chance to govern. Meighen lost a confidence vote as soon as Parliament reconvened and King won the ensuing election.
The public is divided on whether or not the new coalition should take place or not.
Since the Conservative party of Canada has a minority government and do not have magic number of 155 to form a majority government. The Conservative Party of Canada has only 143 seats. If the opposition parties coalition is successful this would mean they have 163 seats and could technically govern the nation. The coalition could defeat the Conservative Party of Canada.
The three parties New Democratic Party also known as the NDP, Liberal Party, and Bloc Quebecois are forming a coalition and they can topple Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s minority government. It is strange that the NDP and the Liberals are forming a coalition with the separatist Bloc Quebecois since that party wants to separate from Canada.
Many Canadians in English Canada are against the Bloc Quebecois because this party wants to separate from Canada. Why should a political party that wants to separate from the rest of Canada be allowed at all?
The crisis is so bad that the Governor General Michaelle Jean quickly returned to Canada from a European tour. There is so much pressure on Ms. Jean right now. What is Ms. Jean going to do?
In the year 2004 Stephen Harper also formed a coalition with the Bloc Quebecois and the NDP in an attempt to topple the Liberal minority government when they were in power four years ago.
The quandary is since Ms. Jean is the head of state in Canada she has to decide the fate of Canada. Ms. Jean has to make a decision whether to allow the new alliance between the NDP, Liberals, and Bloc Quebecois to form a new government. Another alternative is Ms. Jean can allow Prime Minister Stephen Harper to prorogue Parliament giving him more time. Harper is hoping the new coalition will fail. Harper wants more time until January 27th 2009 to come up with a budget.
The opposition parties want to have non confidence vote on December 8th next week because they do not have confidence that Prime Minister Harper can govern the nation properly. Prime Minister Harper of course wants to maintain power. It is so unfortunate that Ms. Jean is being put in this difficult situation. The Governor General is usually just a ceremonial role Queen Elizabeth II representative for Canada. Now Ms. Jean has a difficult decision to make. Ms. Jean can dissolve the current government and call an election.
However, there was just an election six weeks ago so this is unlikely. Everyone in Canada is waiting to see what Ms. Jean is going to do. The political theatre in Ottawa is so emotional there were outbursts yesterday between Mr. Dion and Mr. Harper in the House of Commons. It is obvious the Conservative Party of Canada is very weak right now and it looks like Stephen Harper he may lose the confidence of his own party sooner rather than later.
Can A Barack Obama Exist In Canada?
The United States presidential election is receiving attention from the media across the planet. The United States is the only superpower in the world. I think Barack Obama is an amazing man regardless of tomorrow’s result because he believes in himself. I wonder though why would Barack Obama want to become the president of the United States? I ask this question because I wonder about his family? I think Obama’s family time may be compromised in relation to politics.
I have been wondering though can a Barack Obama exist in Canada? Could it be possible for a black man to become the Prime Minister of Canada? Sadly the the answer right now I believe is no. Although the people of colour population in Canada is only 16% or about 5 million people out of 31 million I am not so sure.
Also whenever people of colour bring up the discussion of “race” in Canada the popular statement from the majority is “if you don’t like it here why don’t you move to America?” What is wrong with asking questions though? There are aspects of American culture I do not like such as the health care system, the racism, the violence, and legal system I can go on and on.
However, one thing I do like about America is the fact that I believe there are opportunities for blacks to really reach the top. Of course I have decisions to make in my own life but the more I think about it I think America despite its faults is a great nation.
Although Canada claims to be a multicultural nation in terms of the power structure Canada is still white dominated. I also believe in America that Americans are more likely to be open in forming a dialogue around the issue of racism. I think it is going to take a few more generations before we see real change in Canada. Also, in Canada most people of colour tend to live in urban areas and not in rural areas.
For instance, in the city of Toronto the people of colour population is 52% however the mayor of Toronto is always white and the police chief of Toronto is always a white male. Most of the top editors at the Canadian newspapers are mostly whites as well. The news is still from a Eurocentric perspective from a “white gaze” looking at the other.
The Canadian media and pop culture is saturated with white Canadian cultural references as well. Although there are writers of colour in Canada making a splash many of these writers are old fossils that follow the status quo. Even in terms of politics the multicultural media in Toronto doesn’t take the mythical norm to task enough and there is an acquiescence as well.
NPR Tell Me More Barbershop Radio Discussion About McCain and Obama
My favorite radio program is the American radio show Michel Martin’s “Tell Me More”. NPR is an American public radio network. NPR is important because it is inclusive of people of colour. Sometimes when I listen to Canadian radio I notice issues I am concerned about and issues that are imporant to me are ignored.
“Tell Me More” is on www.npr.org and it is an amazing show. Every single Friday there is a segment on “Tell Me More” called the Barbershop where black, Asian, and Latino men discuss politics, pop culture, race issues. Friday’s discussion was mainly about John McCain calling Barack Obama “that one”.

Does Anyone Care About The Canadian Federal Election?
There will be a federal election in Canada on October 14th 2008 the question is does anyone care? The Canadian media isn’t focusing on this Federal election and the top issues don’t seem to be rising to the surface. The world media is focusing all of their attention on the historic USA presidential elections. In Canada we have a political crisis right here and that’s apathy. The Canadian media and public are too focused on the USA elections and not about the problems taking place right here in Canada.
Yes Barack Obama and John McCain are important in terms of world politics but I am not an American I am a Canadian I expect more from the Canadian media. Regardless of whether McCain or Obama becomes the next USA president that’s not going to directly affect my life up here in Canada. The Canadian public should be demanding more from the Canadian press and hold them accountable.
The Conservative Party of Canada wants to create a two tier health care system and universal health care is one of the components of Canadian society. Anyone regardless of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, or religion can receive health care in Canada and not worry about breaking their bank account. Universal health care is so important.
Another important issue in this Federal election should be about unemployment and what the political leaders are going to do about it. In the province of Ontario the automobile sector is in a serious crisis thousands of people have lost their jobs. Again, what are the political leaders going to do about this?
Social housing and education should also be election issues the cost of living is rising in Canada and more people are living below the poverty line. Again, why hasn’t the Canadian media focused on this issue?
I urge young people to get off their asses and vote next month. It looks like the Conservative Party Of Canada will win a majority government next month and that means Canada is in for chaos. Prime Minister Stephen Harper is not a man I do not trust. The Conservative Party of Canada is just too “right wing” they recently scrapped a controversial private member’s bill C-484 that would give a “fetus living persons status”.
A conservative MP Kevin Epp proposed the bill it is basically an attempt by this ludicrous party to make abortion illegal in Canada. I am pro choice and I believe a woman has a right to choose. I also find it interesting that once again “men” are the ones that want to make abortion illegal that makes me want to vomit. No man has a right to tell a woman what she can do with her own body. Men have no say over female reproductive rights!
In Quebec the major party called the Bloc Quebcois is a separatist party they want to separate from the rest of Canada. Does this make sense? Why is this horrible party even allowed to exist? Quebec has so many rights already they got their own legal system, their own immigration system, the French language is protected and yet they still complain. I just don’t believe the Bloc Quebecois should exist at all if Quebec wants to separate from Canada why haven’t they done it already? What are the French waiting for? I don’t care about Quebec anymore it is just annoying hearing them whine and complain.
There is a new political party called the Green Party their leader is a woman Elizabeth May the problem with the Green party is their core demographic is too myopic and narrow. The Green party tends to be in urban areas, with younger people. Also, I find the Green Party a bit pretentious. The Green Party is too “Green” I just don’t feel they address the issues that are imporatnt to me.
The problem is the Liberal leader Stephane Dion is a weak man he is just not a strong leader. The Liberal party should of chosen Bob Rae as the leader someone that has a lot of political experience. I don’t want to sound prejudiced but it is sometimes hard to understand Dion he is clearly not fluent in English. I am going to vote for the NDP even though they will not win I believe in their principles. The NDP leader Jack Layton is a good leader but unfortunately the country is just too right wing right now. I just hope the Conservative party doesn’t win the election in a landslide or the country is going straight down the drain.
Michelle Obama On The View: I Love Michelle Obama!!!
I notice the Republican party and even the Occidental media are constantly “attacking” Michelle Obama and I was trying to figure out the reasons why. Why does Cindy McCain always get off so easy yet Mrs. Obama is getting all the grief? The reason Michelle Obama is being attacked relates to both racism and sexism. If you watch the clip from “The View” I agree with Whoopi Goldberg’s comment that Michelle represents a positive image of black women. Thank you Whoopi girlfriend for speaking the truth!
The representations of black women in the Occident tends to be very racist and sexist. The media would rather the public pay attention to the stupid games of supermodel Naomi Campbell then the elegant sophisticated Michelle Obama. Naomi Campbell is the kind of stereotype of black womanhood the mainstream loves. Michelle shatters these racist and sexist stereotypes she is a hard working, intelligent, beautiful black woman and she doesn’t take crap from anybody.
The American media of course are going to “attack” Michelle Obama because they want to remind her because she is a black woman she has ” stay in her place”.
Where are the mainstream liberal feminist groups? Why aren’t the feminists rallying to support Michelle Obama? Laura Bush defended Michelle Obama and I was surprised. At least Laura Bush the current first lady has enough class to speak up and say Mrs. Obama was being unfairly attacked. The question has to be asked why are the white heterosexual liberal feminists silent?
Oops I forgot white liberal feminist organizations such as the NOW Organization are too busy supporting their “white sister” Senator Hillary Clinton. After all in the mainstream white heterosexual feminist movement white heterosexual women are at the front of the bus and women of colour are supposed to be silent at the back.Let’s not forget white heterosexual women have white skin privilege, access to power through the marriage market, patriarchy, and the resources of the Mythical Norm.
Also don’t think for a moment that the mainstream white feminist groups aren’t racist against Mrs. Obama because she’s an outspoken black woman. Michelle Obama has a lot of power she is Barack’s wife. According to the information I have learned there is no way Hillary Clinton is going to be Barack’s Vice President candidate. The racist and misandrist attacks against Barack Obama from some white heterosexual feminists such as Gloria Steinem and Geraldine Ferraro must not be forgotten.
Now Hillary has lost her opportunity to become the first white female USA president I doubt white feminist groups would bother to stand up for Michelle Obama. Remember the 1982 black feminist classic “All The Women Are White, All The Blacks Are Men, But Some Of Us Are Brave” edited by Gloria T Hull, Patricia Bell Scott, and Barbara Smith?
Everyone should take the time to read “All The Women Are White, All The Blacks Are Men, But Some Of Us Are Brave” it is the essence of black feminism and it points out why black people we must support one another.
The book also points out the fact there is a racial divide in the feminist movement. The genesis of “All The Women Are White, All The Blacks Are Men, But Some Of Us Are Brave” is to uplift black women and black people to realize the more we help ourselves the better off we will be.
“All The Women Are White, All The Blacks Are Men, But Some of Us Are Brave” highlights the fact black women are treated as invisible by black men, white men, and also white women. Black women are often being forced into a tug of war to choose between their race and gender. “All The Women Are White, All The Blacks Are Men, But Some Of Us Are Brave” points out black women should not choose. Racial and sexual oppression affects black women’s lives and these issues cannot be ignored.
In the book black feminists such as Patricia Bell Scott, Gloria T Hull, Barbara Smith, and other black female scholars break down the reasons why black feminism is so important. You can get a copy of “All The Women Are White, All The Blacks Are Men, But Some Of Us Are Brave” at the local public library.
Michelle Obama is in unchartered territory she is a very strong opinionated black woman and white America can’t handle that. It is ludicrous and ignorant for white people to suddenly think Mrs. Obama should forget about the issue of “race”, “gender”, and “class” just because her husband is the Democratic Party Candidate. I honestly believe there is a fear in the mainstream of Michelle Obama and the right wing are trying to neutralize her by saying she’s “too black”.
It is clear to me if you read between the lines Michelle Obama is viewed in the Occident as being “too black.” Remember Michelle’s comment about “being proud of my country.” The white media and the Republicans had a field day with Michelle’s comment. However, what right do white people have to tell a black woman about America’s turbulent history?
Yes, now in America there are more “opportunities” for people of colour to rise up the social ladder in North America. However, the “change” is still not over and it would be foolish for people to suggest racism and sexism no longer exists. The racist and sexist attitude of the Occident is that Michelle Obama is “complaining”. The racist attitude is black people we should just “forget” the past and move on. We cannot just forget history and turn the page because history can also be repeated.
Does being too black mean Michelle Obama should just ignore the incredible racism and sexism in North American society against black women? Yes, Barack Obama is making history in America and the world by winning the Democratic Party nomination. Finally, it appears change is taking place in North America and it is about damn time. However, Barack Obama is still not in the White House yet. Despite the Occident claiming that “change” is occurring doesn’t mean white liberals and white Republicans really want social change to occur either.
The Occident are far too busy trying to paint Mrs. Obama as though she is the classic stereotypical angry black woman. Michelle Obama is a breath of fresh air she’s such a shrewd politician she will not allow the Occident to get away with attacking her.
We are so conditioned in society to accept “whiteness” as the center of the universe that we don’t even question it. bell hooks reminds us in her outstanding book “Outlaw Culture” we must be “enlightened witnesses” to racism and sexism. Fox News has the audacity to call Mrs. Obama a “baby mama”. The term is offensive but Fox News reeks of racism. First off, Michelle Obama is a married woman she is not a “baby mama”. Would Fox News ever make such a racism and sexism comment about Cindy MCain? Of course not.
I applaud Michelle and Barack Obama for all their hard work I think for some people they really can’t handle the fact black people are now in powerful political positions. The anger in the Occident is they really don’t want to see the United States have a black president they would prefer the status quo the Mythical Norm.
