Gay German Soap Opera: Christian Returns To His Husband Oliver But He Gets Hurt In Accident.

I am so happy Thore Scholermann, the actor who plays Christian has returned to the German soap opera Verboten Liebe!!! Christian and Oliver are my favourite gay male couple on television! This German gay storyline is incredible and they have been together for five years! Christian and Oliver’s relationship is special because the actors Thore Scholermann and Jo Weil have amazing chemistry!

Usually on soap operas, a gay male couple has a very ephemeral relationship, and then they couple disappears. However, Christian and Oliver are a gay supercouple they have a huge international following due to You Tube. The producers of Verboten Liebe know Christian and Oliver have a huge fanbase!

Christian and Oliver’s love story is very special because the writers allow the gay characters to have a passionate, adult sexual relationship. For instance, on the American soap NBC’s Days of Our Lives, Will and Sonny have a very asexual relationship they don’t have gay sex scenes and they rarely kiss.

The good news is Verboten Liebe, is a German soap, and in Germany, people over there have a more relaxed attitude towards male homosexuality. Christian and Oliver’s relationship is very romantic, very passionate and very intense. Christian and Oliver act like a gay couple in love. The writers have done a good job, not downplaying the homosexuality. Christian and Oliver have problems in their relationship just like the heterosexual characters. Christian and Oliver’s gay romance has resonated with people around the world because the acting is incredible! Thore and Jo are good friends in real life and it shows in their acting they know their characters so well!!

In the current storyline, Christian returns to Germany he worked in England for a while, but he drops a bombshell on his lover Oliver telling him he has to return to England! Of course, Oliver is upset because he was separated from Christian for months. Christian suggests that Oliver moves to England with him, but he doesn’t want to leave his friends in Germany. I can see both sides of the argument. Christian is correct, he needs a job to pay his bills, and his job in England is secure. However, I also see Oliver’s point of view, Christian should not have made a life changing decision without consulting his husband!

I have heard rumours that Thore is only briefly going to be on Veroboten Liebe, because he has worked on other shows such as The Voice the German version and a tabloid gossip show. I sincerely hope the writers do not kill off Christian, I’ve missed him so much he’s my favourite character on the show! If Christian dies then I will have to stop watching Verboten Liebe, because I only watch the show to see hunky Thore Scholermann!

Gay German Soap Forbidden Love Clip: Christian & Oliver Break Up Hurting Millions Of Fans Across The World.

Yesterday, on the German Soap Verbotene Liebe, Christian Mann and Oliver Sabel broke up they are also getting a divorce. Verbotene Liebe means Forbidden Love in German. Verbotene Liebe is only available for the international audience on You Tube because  the show is broadcast  for a German-speaking audience. However, German fans have translated the show into English and people across the world have fallen in love with Christian and Oliver.

I think there is a hunger in this world to see gay male love depicted on television with respect. There is so much homophobia against male homosexuality that this Christian and Oliver storyline gives people hope. Of course, Christian and Oliver are not real people just characters on a German soap opera but I love them! The writers have explored numerous topics such as marriage, international adoption, HIV& AIDS, jealousy, love, homophobia.

I believe the reason people love the characters Christian and Oliver so much because the actors Thore Scholermann and Jo Weil have excellent chemistry. Of course, Thore and Jo are gorgeous, since most soap actors on German television it seems are just beautiful! However, Jo and Thore’s acting is very impressive. I notice little things, like the emotions on Thore and Jo’s their faces in dramatic scenes or comedic scenes is good as well.

On North American television, there is a paucity of gay male characters and they rarely have love lives. Yes, I am aware of the gay characters on Modern Family and Glee but Verbotene Liebe does not hide Christian and Oliver’s love for each other. In fact, I was shocked when I started to watch Verbotene Liebe last year because Christian and Oliver have sex scenes in bed together! This gay storyline on Verbotene Liebe receives the same respect as heterosexual storylines on the show. It is so rare to see two gay men actually have a real adult relationship on television. The intense passion, the love Christian and Oliver have for each other feels almost real.

Even though Christian and Oliver are just characters on a German soap, the audience “feels” like Christian and Oliver are a gay couple.  I can’t speak German,  but the acting shines through despite the language barrier. The passion, the storylines, and the acting bring the characters to life.

Unfortunately, Christian and Oliver are breaking up and  fans around the world are unhappy. Some fans are upset that Christian is bisexual, but shouldn’t bisexual characters be allowed to exist on television? On Verbotene Liebe, Oliver is very upset that Christian cheated on him with a woman. Oliver admits he would prefer Christian cheated on him with another man than a woman. Isn’t cheating just cheating why does the gender matter? My opinion is, I think the reason the writers on Verbotene Liebe have made Christian bisexual is perhaps he is still struggling with his sexuality?

Is Germany more progressive than Canada and United States in relation to gay male couples on television? I think the answer is a resounding yes! Verbotene Liebe is broadcast on German television at six o’ clock in the evening! I am not saying Verbotene Liebe is perfect. I have some problems with the writers I feel they just wanted to break Christian and Oliver up to make the show more dramatic. Christian and Oliver were together for three years which is an eternity in the soap world. Since Christian and Oliver are the most famous gay male couple in the world fans across the planet want the guys to get back together.
