Yahoo News: Former Gay NFL Star Kwame Harris Arrested For Assaulting His Ex Boyfriend!!!

The NFL has no current players and startlingly few ex-players who are known to be gay, but it appears ex-49ers and Raiders offensive tackle Kwame Harris, a former first-round pick, has involuntarily been added to the list as a result of the legal fallout from a fight at a restaurant.
According to the San Mateo Daily Journal, a dispute over soy sauce at Su Hong restaurant in Menlo Park, Calif. last Aug. 21, has landed the former NFL player in court after he assaulted his ex-boyfriend.

Chief deputy district attorney Karen Guidotti told the paper that Harris and the alleged victim had been in a romantic relationship but were not involved at the time of the incident. Harris’ attorney Alin Cintean confirmed to the paper the two “were previously involved” but were just friends when the incident occurred.
Harris pleaded not guilty to felony charges of domestic violence causing great bodily injury and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, the Daily Journal said. The dispute started when Harris got upset at his friend, Dimitri Geier, for pouring soy sauce on a plate of rice.
According to the paper, which was citing a suit filed in San Mateo County Superior Court, the two argued for seven minutes after the soy sauce was poured, and Harris said he wasn’t going to take Geier to the airport as he had said he would. When the two went to get Geier’s belongings from Harris’ car, Harris accused Geier of stealing his underwear and tried pulling the man’s pants down.
Geier tried unsuccessfully to get away, and Harris shook Geier and punched his arms, the paper said. Harris is 6-foot-7 and 240 pounds and Geier is 6-1, 220 pounds. The paper said Geier allegedly struck Harris three times in the face, and then Harris punched Geier several times in the face.

Geier was taken to an emergency room, and had surgery to repair broken orbital bones and required a metal plate to fix the damage, the paper said. The Daily Journal said Geier has filed a civil suit against Harris for assault, battery, false imprisonment, negligence and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Harris could also face up to seven years in prison if convicted, Guidotti told the paper.
Harris played at Stanford and was a first-round pick of the 49ers in 2003. He played in 86 NFL games, starting 55, including 11 games during his lone season with the Raiders in 2008. That was the last time he played in the NFL.
Harris’ lawyer told the paper his client was acting in self-defense and that Geier is just trying to get money through the civil suit.
“We’re looking forward to having this proven in court and clearing his name,” Cintean said.

It might not seem to be a big deal that Wynne is Ontario’s first lesbian premier but it is a breakthrough for the gay and lesbian community in Canadian politics. It means that the Liberal Party sees Wynne as someone they can count on and people are truly progressive and open minded.
Wynne is a solid leader and it is very encouraging that the province of Ontario continues to move towards modernity.
Sloane Stephens Upsets Serena Williams At Australian Open But American Media Hype Might Hurt Her Career.
Yes, Sloane Stephens a nineteen year old American upset the tennis legend Serena Williams 3-6 7-5 6-4 in the Australian Open women’s quarterfinals. However, Serena was clearly injured she hurt her back in the middle of the second set and had back spasms. Stephens deserves credit for pulling off the upset although she almost let the match slip away when she had a 5-3 lead in the second set. Stephens did well to win, but the Americans have a tendency to hype up young talent. Does anyone remember Melanie Oudin from 2009? The USA media hyped Oudin, saying she’s the next Chris Evert yet the girl never was ranked in the top 30. By the way, Oudin lost in the first round of the Australian Open to Laura Robson a talented young British player. Jennifer Capriati was also hyped by the USA press back in the 1990s due to her early promise. However, when Capriati was unable to reach a grand slam final while in her teens she turned to drug use and shop lifting. Only, when Capriati left the WTA Tour and decided to make a comeback did she live up to her potential.
I am not knocking Sloane Stephens, I think the girl is clearly very talented. I am just concerned that the American media are going to put too much pressure on this young girl. Stephens has not won a WTA Tour event, she hasn’t even reached a WTA Tour final yet either. Stephens is good, and she deserves time to mature and live up to her talent.
Actress Jodie Foster Indirectly Comes Out of Closet But Some In Gay & Lesbian Community Disappointed.
Jodie Foster did indirectly come out of the closet at the Golden Globe awards but she never actually said the three magic words “I am gay.” Foster did say she came out “thousands of years ago” in her rambling speech. Foster’s lesbianism is no secret nor is the fact her former lover is Cydney Bernard.
Foster has lived in the glass closet for many years and for a long time some members of the gay and lesbian community wished she had come out when she was a superstar. The reason is, if Foster had come out during her reign at the top of Hollywood her coming out might have a bigger social impact in advancing gay rights.
I understand the frustration though, that some gays and lesbians have about Foster’s reticence to declare she is a lesbian earlier in her career. Maybe, Foster worried that if she did come out as gay when she was making those hit movies such as Flightplan, Panic Room, that the good scripts would dry up? There is a paucity of A list and extremely high profile gay and lesbian stars out of the closet. Jodie Foster is definitely a high profile star.
This speech is evidence that perhaps gays and lesbian people we expect too much from gay celebrities? After all, gay celebrities are also human beings we are all flawed and not perfect. However, there seems to be so much expectations that the gay community places on pop culture icons like Jodie Foster. In this speech, Foster appears to be saying yes she’s a lesbian but she’s not going to be like Ellen Degeneres and become a lesbian activist. Some gay celebrities such as Jodie Foster feel there is a separation between her public life as an actress and her private life.
This is an important point, just because a celebrity is gay or lesbian he or she is under no obligation to get involved in the gay rights movement.
In addition, Foster also stressed although she is a celebrity, she believes she is entitled to a private life. On the gay blog Towleroad, some of the comments are negative some gays believe Foster only chose to come out now because her career is secure and she’s a multi millionaire.
