Days of Our Lives Gay Scenes: Lucas Struggles To Accept His Son Will’s Gay Relationship With Sonny.
On Days of Our Lives Facebook page, some fans of the American soap are furious about the gay storyline. One woman said she turns off the television set whenever Will and Sonny kiss. Another person said she doesn’t believe the gay storyline should be on television since Days of Our Lives is on during the afternoon. After I read the negative comments, I realize this gay storyline is important if one person can become more open minded about homosexuality after seeing Days of Our Lives this is progress.
I believe this gay romance between Sonny and Will is very progressive. I was concerned that Days of Our Lives producers would not allow the gay romance to have any passion. In this clip, Will’s father Lucas is struggling to accept his son’s homosexuality. Lucas argues with Sonny’s mother Adrienne about their boys dating. Lucas claims to be open minded but he is freaked out that Sonny and Will kiss passionately in public at the Horton Square.
Some fans believe the Days of Our Lives writers are throwing Lucas under the bus because he initially said he was accepting of Will’s homosexuality. Another important point to consider is, although Lucas did say he is okay with Will being gay now he has seen his son kiss another man. Lucas is finally realizing that Will is sexually attracted to other men and he wants to express his sexuality. Lucas is confused, upset, and hurt that Will is gay. I think Days of Our Lives needs some scenes with Lucas talking to Sonny’s father Justin since he is accepting of Will and Sonny’s gay relationship. I think Lucas needs to talk to another man about his feelings about Will’s homosexuality.
I believe this clip touches on the theme of masculinity. What does it mean to be a man? What is a real man? Some heterosexual men believe gay men relinquish our masculinity because we are gay. Lucas seems to think his son Will is less of a man because he is openly gay.
A few years ago, Lucas moved to Hong Kong, he might feel he is responsible for Will being gay because he lacked a male role model in his life. Lucas is not a homophobe, but he is clearly uncomfortable with his son being openly gay.
I also think Will is being a bit cruel to Lucas. It took Will a long time to accept his homosexuality so he should give his father some time to come to terms with him being gay.
I understand Will is heartbroken that Lucas does not accept him yet but his father needs time to adjust.
I think this clip is very realistic, it seems everyone in Salem accepts Will and Sonny’s homosexuality. However, we all know in the real world there is homophobia. Some people claim to be accepting of gay men on the surface. Meanwhile, when gay men express our homosexual desires then all hell breaks loose.
I hope Lucas eventually accepts Will’s homosexuality and they can go back to having a good father and son relationship.

Now, Aguilera’s new album Lotus will be released in November. The first single from Lotus, Your Body is doing well and climbing the Billboard charts.

According to some critics, since Christina is a mother and over the age of thirty she needs to tone down her sexuality. However, I think this form of sexism is nonsense, Christina is a grown woman and she has a right to sing about sex.
Your Body is a feminist song, because Christina is taking control and liberating herself by having sex on her own terms.
In the Your Body music video, Christina is reclaiming her sexuality and singing about a one night stand and enjoying sex. Since men can enjoy sex and sing about one night stands why can’t a woman? I don’t see the big deal, women have a right to enjoy sex just like men. Isn’t it a powerful statement for a young female entertainer to speak frankly about her sexuality? I think this video is powerful because Christina is not being shy she loves sex.

Well this is a surprise, Nadia Petrova of Russia upsets the world number three Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-0 1-6 6-3 and wins the WTA title in Tokyo Japan. Petrova is thirty years old and a very talented player but she always lacked the mental toughness. Petrova has a huge serve, powerful groundstrokes, volleys well, and she is a solid doubles player. Petrova doesn’t move very well on the court and her fitness is not at the highest level.
Sometimes Petrova is mentally fragile but she held it together mentally to win the biggest title of her career.
Agnieszka had a solid week, but I believe she needs to develop some weapons. If Agnieszka is going to breakthrough and win a grand slam she needs to improve her second serve. I also think Agnieszka needs to take more chances on the court and go for more winners.

Sherman Hemsley Remains Unburied Due to Will Dispute

The embalmed body of actor Sherman Hemsley, best known for portraying TV’s George Jefferson, is being kept refrigerated in a funeral home in El Paso, Texas, until a local court decides on the validity of his will, reports Associated Press.
Richard Thornton, who claims to be Hemsley’s brother, is disputing a will the actor signed six weeks prior to his death from lung cancer at age 74 on July 24. In it Hemsley named Flora Enchinton as sole beneficiary of his estate, valued at more than $50,000. Hemsley also refers to Enchinton as a “beloved partner.”
Enchinton says she had been friends with Hemsley and had even been his manager for more than two decades. During this time she lived with Hemsley and Hemsley’s friend Kenny Johnston, 76. Enchinton tells AP Hemsley never mentioned any relatives.
“Some people come out of the woodwork — they think Sherman, they think money,” Enchinton tells AP. “But the fact is that I did not know Sherman when he was in the limelight. I met them when they [Hemsley and Johnston] came running from Los Angeles with not one penny, when there was nothing but struggle.”
While there was no official confirmation during his lifetime, there was frequent speculation that Hemsley, famed for his portrayal of the bigoted dry cleaning mogul on the hit sitcom The Jeffersons, was a gay man. A 2007 VH1 story that listed three favorite allegedly gay black actors from the past put Hemsley in the top spot.
New Gay Days Of Our Lives Storyline: Will & Sonny Kiss In Public But Lucas Is Disappointed His Son Is Openly Gay.
Freddie Smith and Chandler Massey have incredible chemistry they seem so comfortable with each other.
I just checked Days of Our Lives Facebook page and the homophobic comments I have read are disturbing but not surprising. Some people are really upset that Will and Sonny are kissing frequently on their television screen. I believe this gay romance is so important because daytime television needs more diversity.
The kissing scenes are improving but I kind of wish there were deeper kisses and not just quick kisses. I think it is realistic that Will Horton’s father is upset that his son is kissing another man in a public space. Lucas is still adjusting to the fact his son is a homosexual. I appreciate that Days of our Lives is exploring an underlining theme about masculinity. I notice that the only male in Salem who is 100% supportive of Will and Sonny dating is Sonny’s father Justin. Rafe, Lucas, Brady, Bo, Roman, are the male role models in Will’s life aren’t exactly thrilled he is gay. Maybe, the male father figures in Will’s life aren’t comfortable or know how to talk to him? I notice the female family members his mother Sami, his grandmother Marlena, and his other grandmother Kate are very supportive of him being gay.
Perhaps, Lucas feels that he failed Will since he moved away to Hong Kong and wasn’t around for two years during his adolescence? I think Lucas is going to hopefully accept Will and Sonny’s romance.
Globe & Mail Article: Toronto Ombudsman Finds Mayor Rob Ford Is A Racist Tried To Rig Civic Appointments!!

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is disputing the findings of a new report from the city’s ombudsman that alleges his office interfered in the civic appointments process, including asking bureaucrats to remove a line from newspaper advertisements seeking “diverse” candidates.
The report describes how unnamed employees of the mayor’s office meddled in the way the municipal government selects ordinary citizens to sit on some 120 boards, including the boards of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the Toronto Parking Authority, the Toronto Police Services Board and the Toronto Public Library Board.
The mayor’s office first asked for post-election recruitment to be postponed, then demanded it be condensed into such a short time-frame that candidates could not be screened properly, according to the report from Toronto ombudsman Fiona Crean.
“It will look to cynics as if the fix is already in for appointments and the process is just for show,” an unnamed bureaucrat wrote to the city manager in a June 9, 2011 e-mail, expressing concerns about the tight timeline.
“We now have a governance process that is no longer based on any recognizable principles.”
Mr. Ford said Thursday that he “didn’t interfere in any process.”
“I’ve actually cleaned up the process that we had before. It’s a very clean and above board transparent process and it went very well,” the mayor told reporters after a ground-breaking ceremony for a new aquatics centre in Scarborough.
The report also found that the mayor’s office directed that recruitment ads not be placed in the Toronto Star, a newspaper with which the mayor and his councillor brother Doug Ford have a long-running feud.
“The [City manager’s office] informed my investigator that when they raised this with the Mayor’s staff, they were told that ‘we do not like the Star,’” the report says.
The mayor’s office denies it asked that the ad be kept out of the Star, according to the report.
In the end, recruitment advertisements appeared only in the National Post, Toronto Sun and Metro.
One of the goals of the city’s appointments policy is to fill boards with qualified citizens of different genders and racial and ethnic backgrounds, a subject on which the municipal government keeps careful statistics.
The report suggests the mayor’s office tried to undermine that goal.
“[City Manager’s Office] staff informed my investigator that they were asked by the Mayor’s Office to remove the statement in the advertisement that encouraged applicants from the City’s diverse population to apply. Staff refused to do so,” according to the report.
Mr. Ford said that was not true. “No, that’s not what happened,” he said, adding it was city staff, not his political staff that did not “reach out in terms of diversity.”
Asked if he was against diversity, Mr. Ford laughed. “That’s a ridiculous question,” he said.
According to a “diversity summary” of public appointments, 70 per cent of the citizens selected for boards under the Ford administration were white — the same percentage as in the second term of his predecessor, David Miller.
More men were tapped under Mr. Ford (70 per cent) than during Mr. Miller’s second term (53 per cent).
However, more applications actually flooded in under Mr. Ford than under Mr. Miller. The city received 1,927 applications for 167 positions in 2011-2012, up from 1,316 applications for 125 posts in 2007-2010.
At least one candidate with a serious conflict-of-interest nearly slipped through the laxer-than-usual process, Ms. Crean wrote.
In that case, the report describes an acrimonious closed-door meeting of the civic appointments committee at which an unnamed councillor pointed at staff and said, “I’m going to get you,” and added that bureaucrats had other councillors fooled, but not him.
“Some staff described the panel chair’s manner as ‘threatening.’ One staff described the process as ‘gruelling’ and ‘humiliating,’” according to the report.
The trouble apparently began when someone pointed out at a Nov. 16, 2011 meeting that a candidate who had previously been marked as qualified actually had a conflict-of-interest – he was an agent who appeared frequently before the adjudicative committee on which he was seeking a seat.
When the issue was raised, the same unnamed male councillor who allegedly threatened staff asked for those concerns to be put in writing. But a letter never surfaced.
The alleged threats from the councillor – who was also the panel nominating chair – came at the next meeting of the civic appointments committee, which was Jan. 16, 2012, although that date is not specified in the report.
Only one board was dealt with at both the Nov. 16 and Jan. 16 meetings: The Sign Variance Committee, whose nominating panel was chaired by Ford ally Giorgio Mammoliti.
Mr. Mammoliti said Thursday that he asked for such a letter at the Nov. 16 meeting, but he said he did not know if he was the councillor identified in the report.
He “unequivocally” denied threatening staff at the meeting. “Never in my 23 years in politics have I used that kind of language,” Mr. Mammoliti said in an interview Thursday.
The chair of the civics appointment committee, Frances Nunziata, said she did not recall any member of the committee upbraiding staff as described in the report.
Ms. Nunziata, the council speaker and a Ford supporter, said the mayor’s office did not tamper with her committee’s choices.
“Every decision that was made was done at the committee … I’m not aware of any interference or direction from the mayor’s office,” she said.
The ombudsman’s finding prompted harsh criticism from the councillors who chaired the civic appointments committee in Mr. Miller’s second term.
Councillor Adam Vaughan, a staunch critic of the mayor, said members of the current committee should be fired at mid-term and replaced with a new slate of councillors.
“I just don’t think they’ve done their jobs,” said Mr. Vaughan, chair of the committee in the second half of Mr.Miller’s last term.
Councillor Janet Davis, who chaired the committee in the first half of the same term, said Mr. Miller and his staff stayed out of the process. She called the alleged meddling by Mr. Ford’s staff “unprecedented and inappropriate.”
“The interference from the mayor’s office so compromised this process that we need to make sure that there are new guidelines and practices to stop it in future,” she said.
Ms. Crean and two of the city’s four accountability officers — the integrity commissioner and the lobbyist registrar — are locked in a battle with budget chief Mike Del Grande, an ally of Mr. Ford.
Citing their need to remain independent from city council, they have refused to provide a line-by-line accounting of their budget requests for 2013, according to Mr. Del Grande.
“The three of them, led by the ombudsman, are very, very concerned about their independence. I pointed out to them that it really doesn’t have anything to do with their independence per se, it’s reviewing their numbers,”he said.
Ms. Crean was ill and not available for interviews Thursday.

Toronto District School Board Proposal For A School For Queer Youth Should It Go Forward?
Fan Wu, 20, thinks the Toronto District School Board should consider creating a gay-centric high school. (CBC)A public meeting is being held Wednesday to gauge the interest in a possible gay-centric high school in Toronto.
University student Fan Wu, 20, says the Toronto District School Board could make life easier for some future students if they considered his proposal for a new type of high school.
Wu is hosting a forum at the 519 Church Street Community Centre Wednesday night and hopes to determine the public’s interest in the idea of a gay-centric secondary school.
But debate on Wu’s idea has already begun.
Irene Miller, president of the Toronto chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), says separating kids because of their sexual orientation won’t help encourage acceptance.
“What you’re doing is saying: ‘If we take away all the kids who are being bullied, then the bullying stops,'” Miller said. “What we should be doing is take away all the bullies and the bullying will stop. It’s the wrong end of the stick.”
‘Not a segregation project’
Wu maintains this conceptual school is “not a segregation project” but would simply be another alternative school focusing on diversity and acceptance.
“This is not an ostracism project,” Wu said. “As with most alternative schools, every student will have a choice to apply to this school, regardless of their academic standing, regardless of their financial background, regardless of their sexuality in particular.
“So we would welcome allies, straight people, lesbian, gay, bi, trans, people of all sorts into this school. There is no ghettoization going on here.”
Similar criticism about segregation was also expressed about a controversial Africentric high school program at Winston Churchill Collegiate in Scarborough.
Last week it was revealed that the program had just six students enrolled. However, the city already has an Africentric elementary school which opened in 2009.
Miller maintains that the creation of a gay-centric school isn’t working toward the bigger picture.
“It’s taking one group of children and singling them out,” she said.
“It’s a hetero-sexist society and we presume people to be straight. We should change that way of thinking because we know not every one of those children is straight so society at large has to make a pivotal change in order to educate that 10 to 15 per cent of kids in school today [who are] LGBTQ.”
The Toronto District School Board already runs the Triangle Program at the Oasis Alternative School, which is a Grade 9 through 12 curriculum taught through an LGBTQ lens.
The board says it would not comment on the proposed new secondary school until it has seen an official proposal.
Wu hopes to put forth a formal proposal if the interest shown at Wednesday’s meeting is strong enough.

Incendiary Conservative Writer Ann Coulter Says Civil Rights Only For Blacks & Not Gays Is She Right Or Wrong?
Ann Coulter is a controversial writer and obviously she went on ABC to create an incendiary debate about various special interest groups in America. Coulter is incorrect, civil rights are human rights for all human beings regardless of our race. Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, and women have also been discriminated against in America not just blacks. All a person needs to do is flip through a history text-book and learn about how Japanese Americans were forced into interment camps during World War II in America. Hispanic Americans are still encountering a lot of discrimination in relation to immigration. Asian Americans and Native Americans also encounter an incredible amount of bigotry in the United States.
However, one group which does have white privilege despite encounter discrimination are white homosexuals in America. Although Coulter did not discuss white privilege, I believe there is a kernel of truth to her argument that black rights and gay rights are different. Coulter is arguing in an awkward way I believe that white privilege needs to be addressed in relation to gay rights in America. White gay people did not have to sit at the back of the bus or be blocked from housing, education, health care, due to their race. White gay people weren’t forced to go to a segregated hospitals to get quality health care either.
Do people automatically think in their minds that gay rights include queers of colour? I think the answer is still no in North America because of the methodology and the strategy of the American gay rights movement is still very Eurocentric.
The American gay rights movement also has a problem with racism in relation to their viewpoints about people of colour. A simple google search of white gay male blogs such as Queerty, Towleroad, Perezhilton, and the bigotry against people of colour is littered on the message boards.
Let’s be honest here, in North America when people think about homosexuals the public representation in the public sphere is usually a white gay man or a white lesbian that is middle to upper class and has an endless supply of income. The image of a gay person in America is linked to white skin privilege which the white gay activist groups such as GLAAD and the Human Rights Campaign do not acknowledge.
Another quandary for the mainstream white American gay movement is, some people of colour do not believe gay rights are human rights because there is a white image problem. In order for gay rights to progress in America, there needs to be more racial diversity and education.
There needs to be more prominent gay and lesbian leaders of colour that are allowed to have a platform to discuss gay rights on ABC news, CNN, NBC, Fox News ect.
Why would black heterosexual people in America suddenly care about gay rights when they only see rich white homosexuals on television, in print media or on the radio discussing gay rights?
LA Complex Gay Storyline Second Season Finale: Kal’s Father Dies He Has A Frank Ocean Moment Comes Out On The Internet.
Sometimes I wonder, if the writers of the LA Complex are prescient? After all, the hip hop artist Frank Ocean came out of the closet in July and now the gay rapper Kaldrick King comes out on the internet in the season finale. I was moved by Kaldrick’s letter he wanted to tell his father about his struggles with his homosexuality. After Kaldrick’s father dies,he realizes that he needs to live his life on his own terms and not worry about what other people think. Kakdrick finally acknowledges he is gay and he took the brave step to coming out to his fans online.
It is going to be interesting to see if there are ramifications and any fallout after Kaldrick comes out.
Are Kaldrick’s fans going to support him not that he declares he is a homosexual?
I feel that Kaldrick’s new boyfriend Chris is attractive and also very mature and thoughtful. However, I am not convinced that Kaldrick and Chris have the emotional and physical chemistry that they are in love. I sense that Chris is actually like another father figure to Kaldrick he is like a gay mentor to him showing him that is okay for a black man to be gay. I like the Chris because he is a positive representation of a gay black man he is a successful lawyer, and he is comfortable with his homosexuality. I am just not sold that Kaldrick and Chris are in love with each other.
At least the fictional character Kaldrick King is not stringing his fans along any longer pretending to be heterosexual when he knows he is a gay black man.
However, it is important to point out in the real world, a male rap artist with a high profile has never come out of the closet. Frank Ocean is a R&B singer he is not a rapper. In addition, unlike Frank Ocean, at least Kaldrick King is resolute that he is indeed homosexual. Frank Ocean recently released a music video called Pyramids about a female stripper. I don’t want to sound cynical, but I wonder if Frank Ocean’s coming out is simply a carefully planned publicity stunt? One argument is, Frank Ocean does not need to label his sexual orientation.
Another point to consider, politically correct people will state that we should not label other people but the truth is human beings do label each other. We utilize labels to identify, categorize, and it is a method to understanding each other. Is Frank Ocean gay, or bisexual? I believe Frank Ocean refuses to take on the gay label because he and his PR team probably feel it will stigmatize him and place him into a corner. Frank Ocean and his record company can claim he is a progressive queer role model because he came out of the closet.
Yes, it was a bold step forward for black gay rights that Frank Ocean a prominent African American musician came out of the closet. However, the ambiguity about the R&B singer’s sexual orientation is a quandary.
The media and the general public are confused about Frank Ocean’s true sexual orientation. On various media websites, I have read that Frank Ocean is gay and on other websites the writers state he is bisexual. Why hasn’t Frank Ocean made a music video about being in love with another man? Would it be too shocking or too gay for Frank Ocean to declare his love for another male and kiss him in a music video? Would it shock heterosexual female consumers if Frank Ocean made a music video about having a real passionate love affair with another man?
It is disconcerting that Frank Ocean is only trying to appeal to a heterosexual female market yet ignore his gay male market.
The general public isn’t stupid, Frank Ocean can’t crawl back into the closet he’s out that’s a wrap. Is Frank Ocean going to do what the British actor Luke Evans did come out and then run back into the closet? Luke Evans starred in the Immortals last year and his next major role will be in the Hobbit. Since Evans profile is rising in Hollywood his PR people believe the general public isn’t going to accept him as a gay male action star.
Over a decade ago, Luke Evans came out of the closet to the American gay publication Advocate Magazine All you need to do is type in Luke Evans and gay in a google search and you will find the article. Evans discussed his propensity to enjoying watching gay porn, his love for men with large penises, and his love for other men.
Fast forward a decade later, now that Luke Evans is being groomed by Hollywood to become an action star he is suddenly in love with women. Evans Wikipedia page is scrubbed clean of any discussion about his homosexuality. It appears Frank Ocean is also playing a pernicious game, he is blurring the lines of sexuality on purpose which is abhorrent and deleterious.
Frank Ocean certainly isn’t the gay black role model that the mainstream media is painting him to be. A real role model wouldn’t be singing about loving women and making a video about a female stripper.
Frank Ocean decided to come out of the closet and now he must deal with the consequences. He can’t have it both ways playing with various demographic markets. Frank Ocean needs to make it clear to the general public is he gay or bisexual. It is only fair, because it is not enough for Frank Ocean to state he once fell in love with another man. He needs to prove to the general public that he is indeed not playing a pathetic publicity stunt game and declare his love for other men.
At least Kaldrick King isn’t playing games with his audience on the LA Complex. It is disappointing that a fictional character on a television show is more progressive than a real human being who could do so much for black gay rights. Frank Ocean actions are very disappointing because he isn’t as comfortable with his sexuality and his actions prove this to be the case.
