The Documentary Film Dark Girls Examines The Racism & Sexism Black Women Experience From Black Men!!!

I am a dark-skinned black man and I just feel like crying after I watched the documentary clip for the film Dark Girls.

I commend the director and all the black women in this documentary Dark Girls for having the courage to speak out about their feelings about skin tone racism.

Some black people probably feel like our dirty laundry needs to be discussed in private.

We need to form a dialogue about this pernicious racism and sexism that darker skinned black women experience from black men.

I feel that society does construct the image that to be beautiful it means to be lighter skinned.

The media has a lot of power in shaping and constructing our beliefs about beauty.

However, I believe black men are also to blame for devaluing black women.

I have heard darker skinned black males make crude comments about dark-skinned black women.

I believe it is so sexist and disgusting that some black men believe they have a right to discriminate against black women.

For some of these racist black males they feel empowered by treating black women as inferior.

For instance, why are Beyonce, Rihanna, Alica Keys, and Halle Berry placed on a pedestal by black heterosexual men?

I rarely see darker skinned beautiful black women such as Naomie Harris or Gabrielle Union treated the same.
