what? i can’t even understand why this question has been asked. he is married with children; ie he’s straight. Some people are what they appear to be you know. Good grief.

Maybe Federer is straight but since when does being married and having kids automatically make a man heterosexual? There are lots of men that have a wife and children to provide the heteronormative ideal of respectability. Very few male athletes are out of the closet for fear of losing endorsements and fans. I wouldn’t be surprised if Federer is at least bisexual.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Federer is at least bisexual”. So you wouldnt be surprised – so what? Based on what? What evidence is there of him being gay or bi ? Is there evidence of him being straight?
Look, I am well aware that some men are closeted. Nor did I suggest that being married with kids “automatically” makes someone heterosexual. I am not stupid. Not all male athletes get married either. My point is is that some people ARE what they claim to be and it gets very tedious when people constantly ask is so and so REALLY gay or bi? when there is nothing to suggest it. Its just silly. Its also insulting to the women to imply they are all in on some closeted conspiracy. Does anyone suggest that Gareth Thomas might REALLY be straight? I mean, he was married to a woman after all. No. It doesn’t work the other way does it. Oh and no there is nothing wrong with being gay/bi so that is not my point. By the way, tennis was recently voted the most gay friendly sport out there. So the remark about sponsorship isnt entirely correct.

I disagree about tennis being gay friendly. I believe tennis is very homophobic. Maybe tennis is more accepting of lesbianism but is not accepting of male homosexuality. The lesbian tennis players such as Martina Navratilova, Amelie Mauresmo, and Billie Jean King help make women’s tennis more accepting of lesbians. However, the only out male tennis champion was the 1920s legend Bill Tiden. I find it very hard to believe there has never been a male tennis champion that is gay since the 1920s! A lot of people compare Federer to Tilden they both had style, arrogance, and a flair for fashion.

Why are you so obsessed with this question? Do you know something or did you hear something first hand re Roger and his sexual orientation? I have read the rumors about him as well but the thing I keep coming back to is this:
Why would Roger start dating Mirka in 2000.? At that time he was not even in the top 10 of male tennis players and had not won any major tournaments at that time. There would be no reason for him to have a beard at that point.
That is what makes me think their relationship could be genuine. But who knows for sure.

Federer is straight. Nadal on the other hand is a different story….

Well one of his best friends is Gavin Rosedale…and welll…um…Gavin once was bisexual

“I think at the outset there was a sort of fear—that was right at the beginning of Bush, and I didn’t want it to be part of it. It felt like a cheap shot, so I was like, ‘I’m not getting involved.’ I’ve never wanted to appear closed about it. It’s not something I’ve talked about really because it’s always been in the glare of a tabloid world. It’s just one of those things: Move on. When you’re 17, Jesus Christ. I don’t think there’s anything strange about any form of—you’re learning about life. It’s a part of growing up. That’s it. No more, no less.” It was just the one time, says Gavin.

Roger and Gavin…hot pair…or maybe Roger is a cool guy that could care less if people think he is gay because he has a stylist that knows how to dress him in fashionable clothes and one of his best friend just so happens to have slept with a guy “once”…I mean endless possibilities in infinite combinations…right?

And who the hell are we to judge.

    It’s just a fact.

My dear tennisfan, why are you so mad about this question being even asked? And so angrily asking for proof and at the same time assuring us of his heterosexuality without having the slightest one on the contrary yourself, as it were. I certainly know nothing about his sexuality, but neither do you: don’t expect us to take your assumptions as final proof. By the way, what would be so wrong with being gay, should perchance he (or any other tennis champ be?). I’ve got news for you, lad; there are just as many gay tennis players as gay male ballet dancers. Virtually all of them well into the closet, the higher teir ranking, the less they are willing to go public, as their females counterparts do so matter of factly ( We know well a dozen at least in the top 100) Apparently, to have real guts is reserved to women, as French men say. How sad…
