Fuck CNN’s Soledad O’Brien!
CNN reporter Soledad O’Brien should have her sisterhood card revoked immediately and never returned! She has damaged, betrayed, and disrespected the entire black female community with her negative, short-sighted, half-assed, stereotypical, and repetitive “investigative reporting” on black women in America.
Her program Black In America: The Black Woman And The Family was a complete and total fraud! This program did not address the lives and experiences of black women in America at all! It was two hours of of the same negative racist and sexist stereotypes that the majority of white America believes about black people, particularly black women.
Ms. O’Brien’s documentary stripped black women in America down to nothing but unwed, single mothers with multiple children, they can not properly raise or control to lonely, but educated black women that can’t find a man to broken down old black women that can’t take care of themselves. I was never so distressed or disgusted watching an investigative news report on African American women.
Ms. O’Brien’s program was so awful that it made MSNBC’s past program, African-American Women: Where They Stand series look like ground-breaking and interesting television. And black women universally hated that complete series. I cannot believe that Soledad O’Brien spent 18 months investigating black women in America, only to come up with the same old tired crap that has already been covered BADLY by someone else.
Where was the expression of pride of being a a black woman in America in the 21st century? Where were the positive stories? Where were the stories that expressed the uniqueness of black womanhood? Our humor? Our passion? Our beliefs? Our dreams? Where were the black mother/daughter relationships? Where were the successful programs that changed the lives of black women for the better? Where was the celebration of black women? Where were the voices of black women period?
Please my sistas, this travesty of journalism cannot be allowed to stand. E-mail Ms. Soledad O’Brien and tell her what you think. Here is the link. If I had the choice of black women in America being completely ignored by mainstream news and “investigative” reports like CNN and MSNBC has produced, I would much rather have black women in America completely ignored!
If the contrext of her series has degraded black women she should be ostrasized for her weak negative so- called journalistic reporting! These types among us are traitors and c. She has used us and should never be trusted! Now she wants to run in and cloak herself behind DMLK doing another doc. She is a straight fake ass traitor. She did the same thing during her hurricane Katrina doc. She is not one of us. That was an embarrassment. What in the hell were you to expect if the federal gov. abandoned an entire city filled with black men, women and children? pure Kaos!S he will never will be one of us and she must be reminded that her light skin has only been an asset to herself. not to any of us.
Direspectfull comment, and full of resentment.
Is your intention to attack another victim of white supremacy [Soledad O’Brien] for being a victim of [white racism] white supremacy? If all not white people are victims white supremcy then why attack another victim in the first place, do you think that she is being anti Black? Daily each and everyone of us who identifies ourselves as Afrikan are anti-Black one way or anther. From Black women who perm, colour, or weave their hair, to the Black celebreties that make millions which does nothing for our people, Blacks in law enforcement that witness police brutality by racist kkkops and often partake in such assualts.
My conclusion is we are all guilty of anti-Blackness for those who have read the writings of Dr. Frances Cress Welsing (The Isis Papers), Mr. Neely Fuller Jr., and others who continue to anti-Black behavior should be questioned. Otherwise, they are simply victims of white supremacy just like you and me.
Beautiful family Soledad.
Is someone being color struck? If she was brown skinned would they say she was slandering black women? If she did not have light children and a white husband would they give her this much criticism? Hmm something to question.
“… color struck?”
Perhaps that is 99.9% for the attackkk on this woman Mrs. Soledad O’Brien
Blacks attacking one an other is a ‘sport’ enjoyed by all.
Foolish article. O’Brien is black. Every black person is an individual just as people in your house are individuals. We are not a homogeneous group. What the women you know of may have experience might be different form women in another city, county, or state.
Furthermore, neither you or any other person has the right to revoke someone’s “sister card” just as no one can revoke your American citizenship. Use common sense and objectivity. Why is it we asked for civil rights yet cannot be civil among ourselves? Why is it we can be racist and stereotypical against our own – bigotry between lighter and darker African Americans – yet someone single out at White Americans when they are racist as it is only a White problem?
And lastly, native Africans question the “blackness” of African-Americans. Yes, that is stupid. And that is not different than what you are doing here.
