Career Advice: Does Anyone Know Any Good Schools To Learn The French Language In Toronto?
I think one of the biggest mistakes I made in my life is not continuing my French studies education. I am thinking about career options now because being bilingual can really help me. Is it really possible though for an adult to master the French language if it is not my first language?
I am working towards my second Bachelor of Arts degree and this year is my final year.
I thought about taking French Studies courses but I changed my mind due to fear. I was afraid of taking French Studies courses at the university level because I just felt I wasn’t prepared or qualified. I don’t think I am a beginner but I am definitely not at the advanced level either.
In the province of Ontario, the highest level of French below the university level is OAC French. However, I finished high school a million years ago in 1996! I think it is odd that I can read some French. For example, if I see an advertisement on the TTC subway or a billboard sometimes I can translate the words into English.
However, I am not bilingual and my conversation in French is terrible. I heard about a school called Berlitz or something like that? Is it possible for an adult to learn the French language? I think I want to learn French but I want to learn the right way.
There is no deadline for me to learn French.
The French language taught in the province of Ontario is not Québécois French, it is Parisian French. The French in Quebec I heard is a strange variation of the French language. I want to learn the French from France because that form of French is the universal French.
