Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen have officially ended their engagement.
Reports surfaced a couple months ago that the duo were on a break, but now the split is permanent. “Yes, the engagement is off,” Bilson’s rep tells PEOPLE, but declined to provide details on the breakup.
Distance was reportedly one of the main reasons for the split. With Bilson primarily in L.A., and Christensen in Canada, “It just wasn’t working out,” says a pal of the actress.
Now Bilson is “focusing on her career, spending time with her family and just moving forward,” adds the friend.
Christensen, 29, and Bilson, 28, met on the set of Jumper in 2007, and got engaged in December of the following year.

A North Carolina woman’s claims that Fantasia Barrino’s alleged affair with her husband caused the couple’s divorce is not true, says the American Idol winner.
“Fantasia is certain that she is not responsible for the deterioration of [their] marriage,” the singer’s manager, Brian Dickens, said in a statement Monday.
Court documents filed last week by Paula Cook allege that her husband, Antwaun Cook, and Barrino began a “covert adulterous affair” in August 2009 and that the two made a sex tape.
“Fantasia will weather this storm with the dignity and grace that she has exemplified throughout a life in which she has repeatedly overcome obstacles and challenges,” adds her manager.
A lawyer for Barrino also blasted the woman’s allegations and said the Idol champ was dragged into the couple’s breakup for media attention.
“Mrs. Cook gratuitously included claims about Fantasia to sensationalize that litigation and to insure that her tale would be picked up by tabloids,” lawyer Gena Morris tells TMZ.com. “The fact that she would seek such publicity in a case involving her children is particularly disgraceful.”
Paula and Antwaun Cook were married in 2005 and split in June of this year, according to court papers.

American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino has been admitted to hospital after an overdose of sleeping tablets and aspirin.
U.S. police are treating the incident as an ‘attempted suicide’, after finding the singer slumped in her closet at home in North Carolina.
Her spokesman, who called police, said: ‘She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time.
‘Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon.’
The overdose came after the 26-year-old was named in a divorce petition following an 11-month relationship with a married man.
Paula Cook alleged that Fantasia’s relationship with her husband Antwaun ended her marriage, claiming she had intimate video footage of the two together.
Fantasia denied parts of Cook’s allegations, saying she was not responsible for ending the marriage.
After photos emerged of her with Cook, her spokesman Brian Dickens said Fantasia was ‘heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused’.
Speaking after her overdose he said she was ‘overwhelmed with the lawsuit and the media attention’.
In a statement he added: ‘Fantasia has always been an open book. Honesty, self-respect, and personal responsibility are values she wears proudly.
‘Fantasia believed Mr Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it.
‘She believed him when he told her he and Mrs Cook separated in the late summer of 2009. She believed Mr Cook when he told her he lived elsewhere.’

Fantasia was the winner of the third season of American Idol, in which Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson came seventh.
She went onto win eight Grammy Awards and her third album, Back To Me, was released last month.
Fantasia was a single mother when she found fame on Idol, having given birth to her daughter Zion when she was just 16.
Her upbringing in North Carolina was tough; she dropped out of school as a teen after being raped by a classmate, leaving her ‘functionally illiterate’.
In 2006 Fantasia released an autobiography, Life Is Not A Fairy Tale, chronicling her rise to fame.
Her father Joseph then sued her for $10million after disputing allegations made in the book.
She now stars in her own reality TV series, Fantasia For Real, and has found success on Broadway, playing Celie in The Color Purple.
Fantasia is also set to star as Celie in an Oprah Winfrey backed film version of the book, which is due to begin filming this year.

I am not an anti-porn feminist. I am sex-positive, extremely outspoken, and enjoy tackling issues of gender & sexuality on the web and in the classroom. I’d like to have an honest conversation about an interview that I saw with Montana Fishburne (Lawrence Fishburne’s daughter) and Brian Pumper announcing her new porn star career. When I heard about the interview, I happened to be driving and actually was looking forward to hearing what the young woman had to say. Unlike most, I actually consider sex work a career and believe that women should have the agency to choose it without nose-snubbing judgment. Many women, not “victims,” pursue these careers and that’s their prerogative. It’s not mine or your body, so get over it!
Now that everyone is clear on my intellectual stance, the real reason that I want to discuss this interview is because Brian Pumper’s voice impersonation of female porn stars and clear domination over Montana made me want to vomit. It’s one thing for Montana to announce her entry into porn, her love for sex, and enjoyment in performing it. However, anyone who watches the video clearly can see that’s not the case. In fact, I didn’t see the point of Brian Pumper being in it at all. It gave me a creepy, pimp feel when he was talking about the porn videos that he directed and the “compliments” that he gave female porn stars when they “performed” well. In his best female voice, he mocks some of these women’s responses, making them seem extremely shy, weak, and flattered by his praise. Even when he describes the sex, both oral and intercourse, he discusses these women almost like they’re beastly animals.
I didn’t get the sense that he was about empowering women in their sexuality through the use of porn and, for that, I hope Montana Fishburne or “Chip D,” her new adult name, wises up and gets a new mentor. She’s very young, 18 years old to be exact, and while I don’t believe in judging intelligence by age, there is a lacking wisdom factor. There’s nothing wrong with being a porn star, video vixen, model, or whatever career you choose. Just do it on your own terms, where it’s financially benefiting you THE MOST, and be about the empowerment of other women, whether sexually or just in general. Don’t do it to role play as some thirsty male porn director’s shy puppet.
If we look at the history of porn, many anti-porn feminists have argued that the majority of women in the porn industry are subject to degrading roles in these videos. I think the term “degrading” is relative depending on the woman participating. She may not interpret her performance that way. My stance remains that so long as the woman is educated and informed about the power of her sexuality, she is free to use it in whatever way she chooses. In this circumstance, I think Montana needs some sex-positive women in her life to make sure she understands the risks of the industry and the importance of putting your pleasure first, even in business. Everyone wants to enjoy their job, right?
In a recent interview, Gail Dines, a noted anti-porn feminist takes a different stance, not so much focusing on the role play aspect, but drawing on questions of capitalism and the porn industry’s incredible profits.
Many people have outdated ideas that porn is pictures of naked women wearing coy smiles and not much else, or of people having hot sex. Today’s mainstream Internet porn is brutal and cruel, with body-punishing sex acts that debase and dehumanize women…
The industry frames the work as a choice, because otherwise that would ruin porn. Choice is built into the way men enjoy porn. Men I interviewed are convinced the women in porn really choose this and enjoy their job.Increasingly, women are drawn to porn by the glamorization of the industry. Some women have made porn work for them—Sasha Grey, Jenna Jameson. Jenna Jameson was on Oprah, who was gushing about her. Oprah went to her house and showed the audience Jameson’s expensive cars and private art collection. This looks attractive to women with limited resources. Capitalism can only succeed if there are people around who will do the shit work. Women with law degrees are not lining up to do porn. The vast majority of women doing porn don’t make it and don’t get famous. They end up in low paid work as well as the brothels of Nevada.
We need a world where women have real options to make a living. This is a class issue and a race issue. To talk about choice is to ignore how people are constrained by their social and economic situations.

Like every entertainment industry, the majority of aspirants do not make it – porn is no different. While it is true that many former female porn stars have lead successful, lucrative careers, some women actually enjoy sex and want to make a living off that experience, despite never being Jenna Jameson famous. Not all female porn stars are “forced” into the industry for fiscal survival. As the daughter of a noted actor, clearly Montana did not lack for money and, under Gail’s analysis, she shouldn’t be a porn star. Sexuality is not that simple and there are multiple paths that lead women to sex work. It has been cliched for too long as purely a sign of victimization. Lastly, men are not the only ones consuming porn, creating a 3,000 dollar spent-per-second industry online. Women are watching porn too! *GASP*
For the women who are comfortable with their sexuality and able to openly discuss female consumption porn without throwing judgment, I’d be curious to know how you feel about Montana’s (or really Brian Pumper’s) interview below. It may just be me, but she seems rather lost.

In our country, the LGBT community has a track record of unleashing some of the most pivotal and historic luminaries of all-time; bringing a rather neo-cosmopolitan flair to the times and introducing agendas that have influenced foreign diplomats to grandiose artists and everywhere in-between across the globe.
Here is a look at some of our black LGBT icons that have and are still influencing the world.
Carolyn Mobley
Carolyn Mobley was the first woman to co-chair the African-American Lesbian/Gay Alliance, which was a smaller part of the National Coalition of Black Lesbians and Gays. She was raised a devout Christian in a petite, segregated Florida municipality. But her Baptist Church condoned her lesbian sexuality despite her work as a Christian educator. The organization served to bridge the gap between the civil rights movement and the LGBT movement.
Lorraine Hansberry
Inspired by her family’s court room mêlée against racially-segregated Chicago subdivision housing laws in her childhood, Lorraine Hansberry wrote a seminal piece of African-American history. Her magnum opus A Raisin in the Sun, bought the civil rights playwright and bestselling author a legion of fans and quickly turned her to a household name.
Josephine Baker
Some call her the “Créole Goddess.” Some call her the “Bronze Venus.” But the “Black Pearl” American expatriate entertainer and song-and-dance actress Josephine Baker is one of the most influential household names on both sides of the Atlantic.
The first African American was indeed a trailblazer: one of the first to star in a major motion picture, one of the first to become a world-famous singer (eat your heart our Beyoncé), one of the first black women to integrate an American concert hall, and she was the first American-born woman to receive the Croix de guerre, a high ranking French military honor of prestige.
Among her many feats as an entertainer, she made contributions to the Civil Rights Movement, lent a hand to the French Resistance in the second World War, and inspired a legion of pop artists across the world.
Sheryl Swoopes
WBNA all-star Sheryl Swoopes was the Michael Jordon of female competitive basketball. The first player ever to sign with the WBNA when it was established, Swoopes was a three-time recipient of the WBNA MVP and won three Olympic gold medals. As of 2005, the LGBT icon averaged 4.3 assists, 85% free throws, 18.6 points, 2.65 steals and played 37.1 minutes per game.
E. Lynn Harris
Everette Lynn Harris’ untimely death shocked millions and for a short while, united both the black community and LGBT community in mourning his loss. The bestselling openly gay author is known for pioneering the notoriety for black and Latino closeted men who slept with men on the down low. Most importantly, the wildly entertaining writer penned 10 consecutive novels that charted on The New York Times Best Seller list, which technically makes him the most successful African-American or gay novelist of the epoch.
Wanda Sykes
Named one of the 25 funniest people in the U.S. by Entertainment Weekly in 2004, Emmy Award winning stand-up comedian Wanda Sykes took gold in 1999 for her work on The Chris Rock Show before airing a successful Saturday late-night talk show. But it was the 2008 passing of Proposition 8 in California (that was recently overturned) that resulted in her public outcry and reveal of her sexual orientation that made her a face of black LGBT.
Alvin Ailey
The duke of dance Alvin Ailey solidified his fingerprints on the universal conscious when he founded the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater located in New York City. The futurist choreographer transformed dance by popularizing and revolutionizing the concert experience via his masterwork Revelations, set to blues and spirituals showcasing the African-America expedition from slavery to autonomy despite trepidation.
Langston Hughes
His style: Slow, melodic, like the jazz swing of a big band turning in at twilight. James Mercer Langston Hughes is the most famous black poet of all-time. He’s essentially the go-to component of any literary prose expert when describing African-American poetry. He was a remarkable influence on the beat poets in the 1950s and 1960s, and he challenged everything from segregation, class conflict to the promise of Communism. He even encoded little passages that referred to closeted love among men. The Renaissance man was the chief innovator of jazz poetry; he helped turn the Harlem Renaissance fare into a flame that ignited an artistic zeitgeist in the black community.
James Baldwin
His autobiographical bildungsroman first novel Go Tell It on the Mountain was a pivotal advancement in the forward-thinking civil rights movement. It showcased an introspective personal tabula rasa perspective that questioned racial and sexual issues and the pressures they imposed. The playwright, essayist and novelist essentially paved the way for every post 60’s civil rights era writer on this list.
André Leon Talley
A front-row regular at every international fashion show for nearly 30 years, former editor-at-large for the American edition of Vogue magazine, André Leon Talley has used his influence to endorse the likes of young fashion designers John Saldivar, Tracy Reese and Rachel Roy; and has ties to talk show divas, even judging Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model.

Tiger Woods gets no love from the Black community, again
At the age of twenty-one, Tiger Woods won the Masters Tournament, and never had the African American community been so excited about golf. Nike built its advertising campaign around this exuberance by producing the “I am Tiger Woods” commercials. Yet not since Mohammed Ali, have African Americans been so ultimately polarized by a sports hero. For a time, Tiger was the shining prince who allowed Blacks to celebrate his achievement, thus reminding the community of other Black figures whose struggles radically changed the perception of what it is to be African American. That time has come and gone.
When he was asked on the Oprah show if it bothered him to be called African American, Tiger answered in the affirmative: “Growing up, I came up with this name: I’m a ‘Cablinasian” (Caucasian-Black-Indian-Asian).
There are those that would argue that as a bi-racial person, it is his right to identify as he chooses. Yet to the Black community, these words symbolized a rejection. Colin Powell responded to Woods commentary by stating, “In America, which I love from the depths of my heart and soul, when you look like me, you’re black.” The perception of Tiger as an outsider solidified when he chose as his wife a White Swedish woman, following in the steps of many male African American celebrities who marry outside of their race.
It was announced last weekend that Tiger got into a car accident. Like most incidents involving celebrities, this quickly became headline news. The paparazzi circled like vultures, sure that there was more to the story than a simple traffic incident. One by one, women stepped forward to allege having extra-marital affairs with Woods. Embarrassing text messages came to light, revealing the extent of Tiger’s lechery. Suddenly, the man that led such a private life found that no amount of begging for privacy would erase his name from the headlines, or from Black blogs.
For many, it was easy to ridicule Tiger. He did, after all, refuse to identify solely as Black. Beyond his message of hope, declaring for the entire world that he is African American bound Blacks to Barack Obama. The kind of relationship that the Black community has with Black leaders and celebrities was something that Tiger failed to understand when he made his fateful statement.
Mr. Cablinasian became an instant punchline as many refused to embrace him in the manner that they had supported stars like R. Kelly and Kobe Bryant. Recently, Tiger jokes became huge on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner show for the past week. In one parody it was stated, “The question everyone in America wants to ask you is, how many white women does one brother want?”
Not only did Tiger marry outside of his race, but the women he allegedly chose to be unfaithful with were also not exactly Black. Just as Michelle Obama adds to Barack’s identity as a Black man in the eyes of the community, Elin, Tiger’s wife, detracts from it. Tired of being passed over, Black women reacted with glee to Tiger’s marital woes.
A commenter on the blog Black Voices wrote:
“As far as I’m concerned, Tiger Woods is just one of the many OREO (cookie) out there, who had to lose himself to gain acceptance in the world that he’s working so hard to exist in. People do have choices in whom they choose but from the beginning of time…and based on his own comments during interviews…Tiger doesn’t know who he truly is. Hence, his ‘all white’ choices.”
On the popular Black blog Bossip, the women that he is alleged to have had affairs with were routinely described as “ho’s” and “bitches.” One commenter stated:
“I GUESS WHITE AINT ALWAYS RIGHT IS IT TIGER. WOW THIS IS GREAT. I HAVE NOT LIKED TIGER WOODS EVER SINCE HE DENIED HE WAS BLACK SO I DON’T CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO HIS SELL OUT *****. I HOPE THERE ARE MORE WHITE HOES THAT COME OUT ON HIM”.
Whom Tiger chooses to engage in sex with should be a personal matter, but his celebrity and his racial identity have caused this to be about more than infidelity. The Black community is not interested in the actual infidelity as much as it is interested in Woods’ complex personal identification. Blackness is very much a disciplined identity with a complex set of behaviours that are necessary for inclusion. When Tiger Woods identified as something else, he broke one of the most sacred rules: Black solidarity at all costs.
He would have been forgiven for the White wife — many Black celebrities have been in interracial marriages — but not fully owning a Black identity is unforgivable for many who must still struggle with racism. Even though he is clearly bi-racial the “one drop rule” still applies in the case of men like Woods, whose Black genes are undeniable. Tiger’s marriage may or may not withstand his dalliances, but what is certain is that his reputation in the Black community has suffered yet another blow.

Tiger woods is good. He is skilled at what he does. He spends time working on it, and simultaneously has natural talent. Whether it is his genetic diversity, the amount of dick pushups he does to his magic white wife, or wait a minute…practicing every fucking day of your god forsaken life to get a result.

Tiger Woods’ troubles widen his distance from blacks

Amid all the headlines generated by Tiger Woods’ troubles—the puzzling car accident, the suggestions of marital turmoil and multiple mistresses—little attention has been given to the race of the women linked with the world’s greatest golfer.
Except in the black community.
When three white women were said to be romantically involved with Woods in addition to his blonde, Swedish wife, blogs, airwaves and barbershops started humming, and Woods’ already tenuous standing among many blacks took a beating.
On the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner radio show, Woods was the butt of jokes all week.
“Thankfully, Tiger, you didn’t marry a black woman. Because if a sister caught you running around with a bunch of white hoochie-mamas,” one parody suggests in song, she would have castrated him.
“The Grinch’s Theme Song” didn’t stop there: “The question everyone in America wants to ask you is, how many white women does one brother waaant?”
As one blogger, Robert Paul Reyes, wrote: “If Tiger Woods had cheated on his gorgeous white wife with black women, the golfing great’s accident would have been barely a blip in the blogosphere.”
The darts reflect blacks’ resistance to interracial romance. They also are a reflection of discomfort with a man who has smashed barriers in one of America’s whitest sports and assumed the mantle of the world’s most famous athlete, once worn by Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan.
But Woods has declined to identify himself as black, and famously chose the term “Cablinasian” (Caucasian, black, Indian and Asian) to describe the racial mixture he inherited from his African-American father and Thai mother.
This vexed some blacks, but it hasn’t stopped them from claiming Woods as one of their own. Or from disapproving of his marriage to Elin Nordegren, despite blacks’ historical fight against white racist opponents of mixed marriage.
On the one hand, Ebonie Johnson Cooper doesn’t care that Tiger Woods’ wife and alleged mistresses are white because Woods is “quote-unquote not really black.”
“But at the same time we still see him as a black man with a white woman, and it makes a difference,” said Johnson Cooper, a 26-year-old African-American from New York City. “There’s just this preservation thing we have among one another. We like to see each other with each other.”
Black women have long felt slighted by the tendency of famous black men to pair with white women, and many have a list of current transgressors at the ready.
“We’ve discussed this for years among black women,” said Denene Millner, author of several books on black relationships. “Why is it when they get to this level … they tend to go directly for the nearest blonde?”
This tendency may be more prominent due to a relative lack of interracial marriages among average blacks. Although a recent Pew poll showed that 94% of blacks say it’s all right for blacks and whites to date, a study published this year in Sociological Quarterly showed that blacks are less likely to actually date outside their race than are other groups.
“There is a call for loyalty that is stronger in some ways than in other racial communities,” said the author of the study, George Yancey, a sociology professor at the University of North Texas and author of the book “Just Don’t Marry One.”
The color of one’s companion has long been a major measure of “blackness”—which is a big reason why the biracial Barack Obama was able to fend off early questions about his black authenticity.
“Had Barack had a white wife, I would have thought twice about voting for him,” Johnson Cooper said.
So do Woods’ women say something about the intensely private golfer’s views on race?
“I would like to say no, but I think it garners a bit of a yes,” Johnson Cooper said.
Carmen Van Kerckhove, founder of the race-meets-pop-culture blog Racialicious, said there have been frequent discussions on her site about the fine line between preference and fetish.
“Is there any difference between a white guy with a thing for blondes, and a non-white guy with a thing for blondes?” asked Van Kerckhove, who has a Chinese mother, a Belgian father and a husband born in America to parents from Benin.
She claims that Asians don’t fully embrace Woods, either.
“There are two layers of suspicion toward him,” Van Kerkhove said. “One toward the apparent pattern in the race of his partners, and the second in the way he sees himself. … People have been giving him the side-eye for a while.”
There’s nothing wrong with wanting a mate who shares your culture, as long as it’s for the right reasons, the comedienne Sheryl Underwood said after unleashing a withering Woods monologue on Joyner’s radio show.
“Would we question when a Jewish person wants to marry other Jewish people?” she said in an interview. “It’s not racist. It’s not bigotry. It’s cultural pride.”
“The issue comes in when you choose something white because you think it’s better,” Underwood said. “And then you never date a black woman or a woman of color or you never sample the greatness of the international buffet of human beings. If you never do that, we got a problem.”
