Is The King Dead? Roger Federer Loses In The Men’s Quarterfinals At Wimbledon!!
Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic shocked the six time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer of Switzerland 6-4 3-6 6-1 6-4. Berdych is six foot five and he serves over 130 miles per hour. Berdych just overpowered Federer.
For eight consecutive years Roger Federer has reached the Wimbledon men’s final. Federer has only lost three times on the grass courts since the year 2003.
In the last few slams big, tall, strong men have solved Roger’s Federer’s game. In the US OPEN final last year, Juan Martin Del Potro, the six foot six Argentine blasted Federer in the final in five sets. Next, at the French Open last month six foot four Robin Soderling of Sweden sledgerhammered Roger Federer in four sets. Now, Berdych just blasted Federer off the court.
This year, Roger Federer is clearly on the decline. Federer won one title this year the Australian Open in February over Andy Murray. However, Federer is now losing to players he never lost to before.

Everyone and their dog is gonna be declaring the demise of Fed. Even if he’s not playing perfect tennis (which lets face it, not many players do), suddenly he’s over. Lets get it in perspective, his less than perfect play is still better than most other players in the top 10 – its not exactly a breeze to get into quarters/semis and finals. He is still capable of winning a slam or two in my book !
I am not saying Roger Federer’s career is over. However, I believe he is on the decline and that’s only natural. Roger had such a high standard of consistency and now he is less consistent. This year, Roger has lost to many players he has never lost to before. After Roger lost to Berdych he suddenly started to make excuses about a bad back, and leg pain. I was shocked. Roger will win a few more slams but he is getting old. Rafael Nadal is the dominant number one player now he is only twenty four.
