Is Roger Federer On The Decline? Federer Loses In Halle Germany To Lleyton Hewitt!

Lleyton Hewitt of Australia scored a major upset today he defeated Roger Federer of Switzerland 3-6 7-6 6-4 in the finals of the Gerry Weber Open. Hewitt broke a fifteen match losing streak to Federer, this is the first time he’s beaten Federer since 2003.

Roger had a chance to win the match in the second set tiebreaker, but he blew it! Last week, at the French Open Robin Soderling snapped Federer’s grand slam semifinal streak.

Now  Hewitt has broken Federer’s twenty nine match winning streak at the Gerry Weber open! I feel Roger hasn’t performed to his potential since he won the Australian Open earlier this year. Is Roger Federer on the decline? I feel Roger’s intensity has declined a bit because he has accomplished so much in his incredible tennis career.

Li Na Of China Shocks Maria Sharapova She Wins The AEGON Birmingham Classic Tennis Event!

Li Na of China blasted Maria Sharapova of Russia 7-5 6-1 in straight sets today in the finals of  the Aegon tennis event in Birmingham England. I am a bit suprised at the result, because Sharapova played excellent tennis all week. Sharapova is a three time grand slam singles champion and I expected her to win the match.

However, Li Na upset Sharapova in the semifinals of the Aegon classic last year. Li Na has so much talent and I am very happy for her!

Li Na always had the potential to be a champion but she sometimes lacked the self confidence.  I think now since Li Na reached the semifinals of the Australian Open this year and entered the WTA top ten she believes in herself now. Well done Li Na!
