Jake Gyllenhaal’s Action Film Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Bombs!
According to http://www.boxofficemojo.com, Jake Gyllenhaal’s action film “Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time” had disappointment numbers! The projected box office for Friday was only $10.2 million dollars, that’s horrendous!
Gyllenhaal’s movie will gross between $40 to $45 million dollars but that’s just not good enough.
The international box office was just as poor. In fact, in the United Kingdom “Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time” didn’t even reach number one. I am certain that Sex & The City 2 will be the number one film this weekend at the box office.
There are a couple of reasons why the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time flopped.
The first reason “Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time” bombed is the casting director made the wrong decision to cast Jake Gyllenhaal.
Since when is Jake Gyllenhaal Persian?
Gyllenhaal worked out very hard to gain the physique of an action star but he just doesn’t have the masculinity for this type of role.
Why did the casting director choose Gyllenhaal for the part and not a Persian or Arab male actor? I think a South Asian American male actor could be the male lead.
Jake Gyllenhaal is a white, American, Jewish, actor he’s definitely the wrong choice for this movie!
Gyllenhaal is too effeminate, there is nothing about Jake Gyllenhaal that screams male action star.
Yes, I know South Asians are not Persians, but there is a paucity of Persian actors in Hollywood. I just think an ethnic male lead could of done justice to this role.
If I was the casting director, I would choose someone masculine, attractive, strong. Jake Gyllenhaal just comes across as too effeminate for this lead role.
The budge for “The Sands Of Time” was huge over $200 million dollars and the marketing costs was about $100 million.
I doubt this movie is going to make its budget back.
Second, the critics have also bashed Jake Gyllenhaal some say he is too “soft”, “sensitive”, and not “strong enough” to be a male lead in an action flick.
The critics are unimpressed with Gyllenhaal’s performance and many of them say he was miscast in the lead role.
I know the homosexuals and the fan girls will disagree with me, but the fact remains straight men are the target audience for action films.
I think the heterosexual men rejected this movie once they found out Jake Gyllenhaal was the male lead.
Hollywood targets the young male demographic audience and they did not support Gyllenhaal.
Third, I think Gyllenhaal is a good actor, but he’s better at dramatic or independent films such as “Brokeback Mountain”, “Donnie Darko”, and “Brothers”.
Gyllenhaal has a cult following of homosexuals and fan girls but he is not a mainstream Hollywood star. Just because the tabloids talk about Gyllenhaal’s love life this does not mean he has reached the mainstream.
Finally, it is obvious to discern that, Jake Gyllenhaal wants to transform his image, he wants to be a leading man in Hollywood. However, I think this role was the wrong choice for Gyllenhaal there is just something about him that screams gay.
Gyllenhaal is too soft-spoken, quiet, and not emotive enough. Gyllenhaal doesn’t posses the acting talent to illustrate passion that the movie requires.
I know Gyllenhaal isn’t gay in real life, but he just comes across as too weak for this part. This bomb proves the casting for movies are a critical component of having a successful film.
