How Do Real Lesbians Have Sex?
Yesterday, in my Critical Sexualities course, the topic of discussion was why is lesbian sex ignored by society in relation to HIV & AIDS?
According to the information I have read, women to women sex is considered low risk for HIV & AIDS transmission. For example, if two women never use intravenous drugs, and never have sex with men, they are low risk for HIV & AIDS .
One female student said “women can still get sexually transmitted diseases if they share sex toys and don’t clean the sex toys.”
The girl also said ” the Toronto health department does not provide lesbians with dental dams.” I have always wondered “how do real lesbians have sex?” I have watched the L Word and according to the lesbians I have spoken they say the L Word is not “real lesbian sex.” So what is “real lesbian sex?”
Why is real lesbian sex so invisible in popular culture and society?
In my Women Studies classes, my professors say that the straight porn industry promotes a false image of lesbianism because it is for a heterosexual men.
The lesbians I have spoken to say, ” The L Word” is for a mainstream audience not real lesbians.
I am cognizant there used to be a lesbian porn magazine called “On Our Backs” but it is now out of business.
Does real lesbian porn exist? Is it available at the LGBT bookstores in Toronto? Does anyone know?

No, lesbian porn does not exist. Believe me, I have looked.
But if you’re looking for information, lots of lesbians (including myself) will say that The Whole Lesbian Sex book comes really really close and is not intended to be pornographic at all! You should be able to find it in a lot of stores!
