Li Na Defeats Venus Williams she advances to Australian Open Women’s Semifinals.
Li Na of China defeated Venus Williams 2-6 7-6 7-5 at the Australian Open quarterfinals today. Venus served for the match leading 6-2 5-3 yet found a way to lose the match. The result is a like a record repeating, Venus always finds a way to capitulate in the grand slams outside of Wimbledon.
Li deserves credit, she did not give up she found a way to win. Venus has a history of choking in the grand slam events.
The result is not a surprise, Li beat Venus at the Olympics two years ago. Li joins her countrywoman Zie Zheng in the semifinals. The Chinese women have finally arrived at the top of women’s tennis.
Li will enter the WTA top ten next week and this is the first time a Chinese woman has reached the top of women’s tennis.
I believe Venus is so inconsistent, her forehand is garbage and her serve is a weakness. Venus has no self confidence anymore.
Venus is an underachiever, she is so pathetic I think she will retire if she continues to have these bad results.
Mr GBC
I am very surprised at your railing against Venus is this manner. Underachiever, are you kidding me? She is a Hall of Famer and still winning. Pathetic??? Lots and lots of people count Venus out for being weak mentally and for inconsistent play. I see the strength of her perseverance and fight. Venus has played this match before where she was out in front and on her way to victory and then suddenly struggled out of the blue. Consider what play might look like from a Champion Tennis Player who is said to suffer with anemia.
I have been a tennis fan for a long time and I have seen Venus implode too many times.Venus is a great champion but more was expect of Venus when she first arrived on the tennis scene in 1997. Venus should of won at least ten grand slams by now not seven.
It is just painful to watch a great champion get old. I credit Na Li for not giving up and fighting back. However, I think Venus is an underachiever because due to her talent she should of achieved more a lot more. The tennis world expect so much from Venus.
Solid blog. I got a lot of great information. I’ve been following this technology for awhile. It’s interesting how it keeps changing, yet some of the core components stay the same. Have you seen much change since Google made their most recent acquisition in the domain?
