I Worked Out At Good Life Fitness Today

GOODLIFE-FITNESS-Web

One of the components of cognitive behavioral therapy is conducting homework assignments known as “exposures”. Today, I decided to take on one of the highest fears and that’s working out at the gym. Although, I know I have a decent looking body I have anxiety because I am self conscious about sweating, about looking weird, and out of  place. I decided this morning to confront my fear of the gym and I went to the gym to work out. First, I went to the treadmill and worked out for approximately forty minutes.

According to the treadmill, I burned 510 calories! Next, I decided to workout on the cycling machine for about fifteen minutes. I felt tired but good after the workout. I understand I have to be more consistent with working out. After all, I am paying for a gym membership at Good Life Fitness I might as well use it.

I definitely have the same fear. i’m short and average size, and I ALWAYS seem to go in the gym while all the big, gymrats are there. People always want to come and correct your form (which is half being kind and half emasculating) or smirk at the size of your weights. it’s like damn, i try to tell myself, you gotta smart somewhere …

Yes I totally agree with you the gym rats can be a bit intimidating that’s for sure. However, I also feel I am doing this for myself so I just do my own thing. I think the important thing is to concentrate on doing what’s best for you.
