i especially love the africville poem, as it was a topic that really touched me when i first learned about it during a visit to the black cultural centre for nova scotia (a highly recommended place to visit!) almost ten years ago. i was pleasantly surprised when africville was featured as part of an urban geography course during my geography undergrad out here on the west coast: the program was pretty much devoid of any other mentions of racism in urban development, and then suddenly we were reading about the decimation of africville. heavy stuff; your piece is an excellent tribute.
