Is James Blake Only Popular Due To Race?
An Honest Comment about the biggest flake in men’s tennis Mr. James Blake.

I am so tired of hearing about James Blake. The guy isn’t that good. The ONLY reason he gets any publicity is because he is black. Period. That is not a racist comment, it is a fact. If he was a white guy and had his track record, no one would even talk about the guy. He is just another run of the mill player who has a decent tournament once in a while. The fact that he is the 2nd best men’s tennis player in the US show how terrible men’s tennis is in the US right now. Thanks for showing up, James.

No. The reason why James Flake is popular is because he 1)is very good looking ; 2) is the rare American male in tennis nowadays; 3) had the big human interest story going (father dying of cancer, his scoliosis, his facial paralysis…).
I wish he would go away personally with his wishy washy playing. I do give him props for the legendary Agassi match in the US Open a few years ago.
Collette I agree that James Blake is attractive but he is such a wimp. Blake is the male Kournikova. However, I doubt if Blake was a white male with his poor results he would achieve superstar status. My perspective is Blake’s “blackness” has helped him become popular in tennis since he is considered “different”. Blake’s ranking has dropped he’s number 17 now. Since Blake is black and has marginal talent he has received a lot of press. Blake just doesn’t deserve since his results are so poor.
