Movie Review: Obsessed Is A Predictable Thriller

Tuesday afternoon, I decided to see the movie Obsessed at the Varsity theater in Toronto. The beginning of the movie was slow, but Ali Larter’s performance was incredible. Larter is the real star of the movie, her character Lisa Sheridan is a sexy, scary, delusional, young woman.
My only complaint is, the movie wasn’t crazy or frightening. I realize the movie is PG 13, but this movie should of been rated R. I notice Beyonce is one of the executive producers of the movie but this film could of been better and more edgier. I am guessing Beyonce and her managers decided to make the movie PG 13 to attract a larger audience.
I wanted the movie to be more dangerous to take more risks. Idris Elba he is not attractive at all. I also felt that Elba’s performance was the weakest link in the movie.
I also did not like the stereotypical gay character Patrick he was a gossip and a drama queen. Why is the gay character such a flake?
Beyonce’s performance was solid she can act when given the right material. The movie is a new remake of “Fatal Attraction”, mixed with “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle” and “Jungle Fever”. The issue of race is not discussed in the movie but is the added element that makes the movie interesting.
