The TTC Is Not The Better Way
Any man that uses the public washrooms at Kipling, Finch, and Bloor subway stations will agree the repugnant smell is so strong you feel like you are suffocating. Taxpayers money is funding the TTC and for years so many men’s washrooms stinks and are dirty! The horrible smell in the men’s washrooms at TTC stations are so disgusting and gross. I feel like I need to vomit whenever I enter the men’s washrooms. When is the TTC going to clean up the lavatories? The TTC takes the public for granted. The TTC knows it is basically an essential service and the union exerts their power every couple of years when the TTC wants more money. This is just a broken record that needs to be stopped. The province of Ontario and the city of Toronto need to take action now. Why is the public being held hostage by a hostile TTC union?
The subway cars are littered with junk food, old crinkled newspapers, plastic bags, and are getting dirtier every single day. Also, it seems every single week the TTC subways always has a breakdown and passengers have to take shuttle buses. The buses and street cars are never on time they are always overcrowded. The lovely Toronto Transit Commission charges $2.75 cents for a single fare . You don’t need to be psychic to know the TTC fares are going to increase to $3.00 dollars one way fare very shortly. The monthly passes have sky rocketed in the last few years. The public is paying more and more for a precarious and inefficient service.
The TTC is not just transportation for the city the service is the heart of the Greater Toronto area’s transit services. An unanimous 99.2% of the Toronto Transit Commission employees have rejected a deal with the city of Toronto of a 2% annual pay increase for four years. What are the TTC employees complaining about now they make $55,000 a year? The latest controversy is the employees of the Toronto Transit Commission want more money again.
I must point out the TTC workers salary is $55,000 a year. When is Premier Dalton McGunity going to make the TTC an essential service? The TTC is very important in terms of business and also making the city of Toronto run smoothly. In May 2006 the one day wildcat strike by the TTC was total chaos. The TTC has too much power and the government needs to reclaim this power it is obvious . The TTC needs some competition ASAP. I doubt this will happen but why doesn’t the city of Toronto allow other companies to offer transit service to the public? Why should we be dependent on the TTC? Why should the public be subjected to rude and obnoxious drivers, a dirty subway, slow buses that are never on time? What is the public really paying for? I think the only solution is competition if the TTC actually had some effective competition perhaps the service would be up the standard of other world class cities?

Many of my friends growing up in Rexdale had parents who worked for the TTC and I saw firsthand that their jobs were never easy. I think they deserve every penny and more. TTC workers are faced with rude passengers who are demanding on a regular basis. Some passengers hurled bigoted words at workers and workers were forced to grin and bare it…they were the client after all.
I don’t agree that the TTC needs competition, but everyone has their own opinion on that matter. And yes, we’d all love to see cleaner bathrooms regardless if they are in a subway station or public building.
It is true it is tough being a TTC employee because the public can be difficult and demanding. I am just kind of questioning where is all the money going? Why do the washrooms stink? Why is the subway platforms and subway cars dirty? Why are the buses never on time? I think if the TTC wants to regain the public confidence something needs to change ASAP. It costs $2.75 just to take the TTC that adds up. The TTC need to do more and so does the government.
i agree with you 100%, i take the TTC to school everyday, and if i miss the first bus, im stuck waiting 20 minutes for the next bus to come. Im just waiting for Metrolinxs to take over
Dear reporters, kindly report on the following questions about the TTC to us, the public, for those that do not have a voice, and for those voices that are silenced. We need to know how safe we really are on the TTC.
1. How did a shooter manage to carry a gun on the TTC? Is the shooter apart of a gang?
2. Of the thousands of cameras on the TTC (buses & Subway stations), was it enough to capture the WHOLE FACE of the shooter?
3. Do we need more cameras? Pardon me, ladies, that may feel violated by more cameras, but I would rather have closure instead of being dead without having a witness to testify against the shooter on the TTC.
4. How long does it take to bring this shooter to justice?
5. What will the authorities do if this person is caught? Does the Canadian Justtice Law system sentence them to a lecture or two, probation, and then set them free so the next time they actually kill a civilian, the law can impose a few years of jail time?
6. Would you testify against the shooter if you knew THEY can
come after you and your family after a few years?
7. How safe do you feel when the shooter has a gang that is coming to find you where you and your family live?
—–>
. Where were all the hundreds of “TTC patrol police” during the time of the shooting? When was the last time YOU as a TTC rider saw one of them? I dare you to keep a count.
. Do you know where the TTC police are when you need them? Do they really exist? <—–
8. Where were all the hundreds of "TTC patrol police" during the time of the shooting? When was the last time YOU as a TTC rider saw one of them? I dare you to keep a count.
9. Do you know where the TTC police are when you need them? Do they really exist? When do they come out and protect us? How can they protect us – by calling the real police that get there 15 minutes later? Oh great! I feel so much safer then. what can they do when they arrive, write up a report? How do they plan on protecting us? As long as my theft and the killing of my friend gets reported, I do feel so much safer. I really do. Maybe I should kill myself now to save the shooter the trouble.
10. Do lower crimes such as minor theft that occur THOUSANDS of times, that get reported, get to be heard to the public? I guess not right? because no one cares about a few thousand thugs stealing an mp3 player from time to time. As long as you don’t get shot at, it won’t make the news. You will just have to wait until you die to make the news.
11. Of the thousands of minor theft, with the criminals’ threat to shoot or threat of physical harm, how many of those cases get solved and even looked at by the police? Does anyone even care to look at the case?
12. Do we each need to carry a gun to feel a little safer? Do we need to wear a bullit proof vest to work daily?
How safe are you -REALLY? HOW F*CKING SAFE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?
Very safe I am sure because it did not happen to you yet. Just avoid people wearing a parka – long dark-colored-jackets, covered from head to toe, with a cap or a hood, and PRAY you will be ok. But in case you get shot and die, or got mugged/threatened, don’t worry because it’s a RARE incident that only happens thousands of times a year (which are not made aware to the public) on the news because when it happens to you, the authorities tell you to not say anything because it’s a part of a long lengthy process of conviction / prosecution. So when it happens to you, you can’t say anything about it or else the criminal goes free. In minor thefts, you can’t do anything, and there are no cameras at your disposal.
When it’s a shooting, the police turn to the public to come forth. That’s great. Don’t you feel so much safer? 🙂
Good night , sleep well. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to help, just let me know how, a way that does not warrant shooters to come after me. In the mean time, please let me know where I can get a discount on a couple of guns for my family.
