I Hope Neo Ned Is Released In 2008?

neo-ned-pic.jpg

I have heard some rumors that the controversial independent drama Neo Ned may be released on DVD in 2008? People are constantly complaining that black actresses never get serious dramatic roles. I think it is very sad that such an important film hasn’t found distribution. According to some discussions on the internet the controversial issue about the “Hitler factor” and the interracial romance theme is the reason “Neo Ned” hasn’t been released. I guess I am waiting in vain perhaps? Oh well, I hope I can see this film on DVD one day hopefully sometime this year?

Gabrielle’s character Rachel is a complex, intelligent, and depressed young black woman she believes the soul of Hitler is trapped in her body. Rachel is a survivor of sexual abuse and she only actually “pretends” that the soul of Hitler is in her body.

Yes, Neo Ned is a bit out there but this is a thought provoking independent film. Jeremy Renner and Gabrielle Union have both received incredible reviews for their outstanding performances in Neo Ned. Neo Ned has received some glowing reviews from the Los Angeles Times, Variety, International Herald Tribune, and other publications.

Neo Ned isn’t just a film about a white male Neo Nazi falling in love with a black woman that believes the soul of Hitler is in her body. The film appears to be challenging and thought  provoking.  Visit http://www.neoned.com and read the reviews for yourself. Neo Ned is about two damaged souls, two people that first meet in a mental institution and fall in love. Although in the end Ned and Rachel realize they may be too different to make the romance work.

If Neo Ned is only released on DVD then I will purchase the movie anyway. I just think its a sad that Neo Ned hasn’t found distribution yet? I have hope that Neo Ned will hopefully be released this this year.

Senator Obama Sweeps Washington state, Louisiana, And Nebraska Primaries!

obama_wideweb__470x3342.jpg

Senator Barack Obama definitely has some momentum tonight after he swept the democratic primaries in Washington state, Louisiana, and Nebraska. Senator Obama also slices Senator Hillary Clinton’s lead. Clinton leads 1,095 delegates to Obama’s 1,070. I think tonight’s win for Senator Obama is extremely important. In order for either Obama or Clinton to win the Democratic party nomination the magic number is 2, 025 delegates.

It is interesting that the media place so much emphasis on the fact Senator Obama won the “black vote” in Louisiana. A lot of African Americans live in Louisiana maybe they are just sick of the status quo? The subliminal racist message the media is sending is that blacks don’t place any thought into voting. I wonder would the mainstream press make this racist assumption about the white women that vote for Hillary Clinton? Black Americans realize that their votes during this election are critical and important. If you want change to occur you have to vote. Why doesn’t the press mention every time Hillary Clinton wins that she acquired the white female vote?

Every single time, Senator Obama wins the media make the racist assumption that blacks just vote for Obama because he’s black and that’s perfidious. Black Americans are a vital component to the political process. I disagree strongly with the ludicrous analysis of the mainstream media. Black voters are turning out in large numbers because they are tired of the Clintons they want change. Black American people are thinking critically about the issues and realize the Clintons are a lost cause.

Black voters are voting in large numbers because they want someone to win that actually cares about issues important to African Americans. The Clintons have never supported black people anyway they simply thought blacks would support them. The Clintons have learned the hard way when you underestimate a demographic group they will send you a clear message when they vote.

Toni Morrison the acclaimed writer made the infamous statement that Bill Clinton was “the first black president”. Now Toni Morrison is supporting Senator Obama! Powerful white people in America such as Ted Kennedy and his niece Caroline Kennedy are also endorsing Senator Obama. Former presidential candidate John Kerry he is endorsing Obama as well. It isn’t just black people supporting Senator Obama. The African American population simply isn’t large enough for Obama to acquire this much support. It is clear that Senator Obama is gaining support across various demographics.

The Clintons have underestimated the African American voters prior to the emergence of Senator Obama. It appears the Democratic party don’t mind black people in the back row or on the sidelines. However, once an African American emerges to become a serious threat the Clintons true colours and actions speaks volumes.

My perspective is I think it is inimical for the mainstream media to underestimate black voters. Of course, the media forget to mention plenty of whites are also voting for Senator Obama in Nebraska and Washington state.

If Clinton or Obama don’t win the Democratic party nomination by the time of the Denver convention unfortunately dirty politics will emerge.

I just learned there is something called a “super delegate”. The “super delegates” are basically a safety system in the Democratic party to maintain the status quo. The “super delegates” can vote at the Democratic party convention in Denver if either Obama or Clinton have not won the nomination by acquiring 2025 delegates by the summer. According to some media reports if neither Obama or Clinton win the party nomination by the convention then the “super delegates” will vote for Senator Hillary Clinton. Black voters should be contacting the powerful black American black democrats such as Maxine Waters ASAP. I wonder aren’t people sick of the status quo? Don’t people want real change? Also, African American voters should be paying attention to high profile blacks in the democratic party.

Why Is The Racism Of The White Jews Palatable?

jolson.jpgmel.jpg

I decided for Black History Month instead of discussing the usual prosaic subjects such as slavery, underground railroad, and the Civil Rights Movement.

I am flipping the script. I am turning the page. One issue the Occidental world refuses to explore is the racism of the “invisible minority” the white Jewish community. The question has to be asked,  why is the racism of the white Jews palatable?

Why are we silent to the bigotry and prejudice of white Jews? I think the global community should be aware of the history of the racism of Jews against the North American black community.

I mentioned in an earlier post that a white history teacher a few years back at York University attempted to fail and punish me for writing the groundbreaking and explosive piece “Whitewashed Black Studies”. My earth shattering article exposed York University for their pernicious racism against professors of colour.

The racist professor is a white Jewish man. The same Jewish history professor he fired off an angry e-mail to me after the story was published and attempted to destroy me. The white Jewish professor claimed that I have the same ideology as bell hooks about white people. I agree with bell hooks to a certain extent I do believe there should be more black professors teaching black studies. However, I never said whites cannot teach black studies I simply questioned why does the imbalance exist and persist at York University? Isn’t university about provoking thought? Or is university just about maintaining the status quo and conforming to the standards of white supremacy and white cultural domination? Yes, I am talking about the same teacher that attempted to fail me because I challenged his white supremacist views about education.

I also recall a high school white Jewish English teacher in grade twelve she was such a racist bigot!

All my English teacher talked about was how hard Jewish people had it in Canada. My classmates and I we just rolled our eyes because this same teacher always ignored the bigotry of the Jewish community. Last time I checked, the vast majority of Jews are white people in this world. If you look at a white Jew in Canada or America they look like any other white person!

My former English teacher also forgot to mention she also has white skin privilege. The system treats people of colour differently then whites of course my English teacher forgot to mention this fact.

I remember in grade twelve I was walking through the hallway one day and the English teacher wondered why I wasn’t in her class. I just bluntly said “I’m taking grade twelve English correspondence.” There was no way in hell I was going to let this English teacher block me from advancing to university.

If you challenge white Jewish people about their racism they automatically brand you as an “Anti Semite”. Are we supposed to be silent to the hypocrisy and racism of the Jewish community? I certainly don’t think so. It is also interesting, that the racist white Jew Al Jolson is still revered in North America for his abhorrent 1927 film “The Jazz Singer”.

In the movie “The Jazz Singer”,  Jolson a white Jew performs in blackface as he demeans black people with various racist caricatures and stereotypes. Recently a Toronto media publication NOW Magazine reviewed this insipid film that is now available on DVD. What artistic merit does this piece of filth have anyway?

The word “Anti Semite”, is a loaded term it is also a weapon the White Jews in Toronto they exploit very well to their advantage. The word freezes you in your steps, it makes you question if you cannot speak up about the Jews deleterious anti black racism. Why is there this insidious double standard?

A few years ago, the white Jewish former mayor of Toronto Mel Lastman he made a racist statement against Toronto’s black community. At the time, Lastman uttered the deleterious statement the city of Toronto was attempting to win the bid to host the summer Olympics. Mel Lastman stated that he didn’t want to visit Africa because he was afraid of being skinned alive. The international media was horrified and disgusted with Lastman’s racist comments.

By contrast, the Toronto press of course immediately jumped to Lastman’s defense and downplayed his obvious pernicious bigotry. Even some house Negroes in the black community in Toronto defended Lastman. Is the white Jewish community in Toronto free from criticism? It sure seems like it.

In the Occidental world, there seems to be this double standard where the invisible code of the white Jewish community’s racism is ignored. It is also interesting that white Jews hide behind the currency of whiteness and utilize their white skin privilege when it is convenient for them.

The mainstream media will rally to support all the causes of the white Jewish community regardless of whether there is any merit to it or not. The “invisible minority” status of the white Jewish community is a social blanket that works for them. However, when white Jews are challenged about their own racism against people of colour they play with the issue of race and revert back to their “invisible minority status”.

Next, as I entered university I learned about the pernicious racism of the Jews against Palestinian people in Israel. Just like South Africa, the Palestinians that live in Israel have to have identification cards and pass through check points. Also, did you know the black Jews in Israel also encounter a lot of racism from white Jewish majority? I wonder why this isn’t mentioned on the Six O’ Clock news or in the print media? There are double standards, hypocrisy and racism of these white Jews!

In May 2007, an African American speaker Malik Shabazz was going to speak to black students at Ryerson University about the importance of education. The racist white Jewish group B’nai B’rith used their political power and influence to have Mr. Shabazz barred from entering Canada. Since when are white Jews the decision makes for the black Toronto community?

Of course, Premier Dalton McGunity supported B’nai B’rith because he wanted to score some cheap political points. If the Ontario government is so concerned about hate speech why wasn’t racist homophobic minister Fred Phelps from protesting against gay gays a few years ago? It appears despite Phelps bigotry he received a free pass from the Ontario government because he is white and Malik Shabazz was barred because he’s a black man.

It was a incredible moment where white supremacy and prejudice prevailed. The Canadian media has a pathetic, racist, and hypocritical perspective when it relates to the racism of the Jewish community in Toronto.

Of course, just a few weeks ago the anti black slurs splashed across the black student office at York University in Toronto generated some press. However, why did it take Mamdouh Shoukri the president of York University two days to respond? Would Shoukri wait two days to respond to the white Jews?

It is well known York University has a very large white Jewish student population. If someone vandalized the white Jewish student office at York University you can be certain there would of been an immediate response ASAP. However, when racism occurs against black people there is only double standards, racism, and indifference.

DVD Review: My Beautiful Laundrette

my-beautiful-laundrette.jpg

Monday afternoon my friend suggested I borrow his DVD copy of the film “My Beautiful Laundrette”. I was hesitant at first because I thought the film was going to be another classic white savior movie. I notice a theme in a lot of interracial films that the person of colour always needs empowerment from the white person. Some interracial films present the false notion that interracial relationships are fighting racism. However, some interracial relationships are based on racism because of the racist assumptions one race has about another.

Whiteness is depicted as better in many interracial movies and as superior to communities of colour. The subversive vein of racism is in order for people of colour to have better lives we need white partners.

The person of colour’s family life is often framed as originating from an oppressive culture and the European culture is presented as the only solution. White culture is depicted as open minded and perfect. “My Beautiful Laundrette”, challenges this racist notion that communities of colour are always oppressive. It is so wonderful to actually see the reverse in “My Beautiful Laundrette”.

In “My Beautiful Laundrette”, the South Asian families are actually just as prejudiced as the white British people. The  Pakistani family in the film view lower class white people as inferior and lazy unwilling to work hard to move up the social ladder. I am happy to announce that “My Beautiful Laundrette” is definitely a forward thinking kind of movie.

The film is about a young Pakistani man Omar he lives with his father on welfare in 1980s London. The movie is set in Margaret Thatcher’s England where the racial tensions between the white British community and South Asians are intense. Omar dreams of a better life. his father is an alcoholic and his mother is deceased. Omar’s uncle Nasser introduces him to a new life and his ambition grows he wants the capitalist dream of material wealth. Omar believes money will give him happiness.

Omar first starts out washing cars but persuades his Uncle Nasser to let him run his own laundrette. One evening, Omar meets up with an old friend Johnny a young white British man. Johnny is unemployed, unhappy, and homeless. Johnny hangs out with a bunch of street punks that get involved in crimes, use drugs and are disillusioned about life in London. The young white men are upset that their lives aren’t better and make South Asians the targets and scapegoats for their own unhappiness.

The South Asian community in London are working hard and to rise up the social ladder in British society. The young street punks feel left behind and have a sense of entitlement due to the fact they are British.

Omar’s  Uncle Salim he is the villain in the film he gets Omar involved in dirty deeds and is emotionally abusive to Omar. Omar persuades Johnny to help him fix up the Laundrette and gives Johnny a job. Johnny’s self esteem grows he now has a purpose in life and he is conflicted about hanging out with his punk friends that are miserable, racist, and anti social. Omar and Johnny’s feelings for each other grow and they fall in love.

The aspect of the movie I loved the most is  the gay romance is not viewed as a social problem. It is still so rare to see a movie about a South Asian gay man that is the star of the film and being gay is not a source of conflict. “My Beautiful Laundrette” just presents male homosexuality as a part of life. Omar just happens to be gay he doesn’t make a big deal about it and neither should the audience. Gordon Warnecke gives a confident and strong performance as the protagonist Omar. Daniel Day Lewis shines as Omar’s lover Johnny.

The gay romance is tame by twenty first century standards there are a few romantic kisses to illustrate Omar and Johnny are lovers. I love the fact that Omar and Johnny have intimacy to their relationship. Far too often gay movies either conceal the gay romance or are too explicit that it destroys a film. “My Beautiful Laundrette” has a balance that is so charming and cute. Omar and Johnny have a sweet tenderness to their relationship you can tell they are in love just by the way they gently hug or look intensely at each other.

I believe “My Beautiful Laundrette” is indeed superior to other so called big budget gay films that have been released in the last few years. My perspective is if “My Beautiful Laundrette” was made in North America the whole movie would of been worse to treat homosexuality as a social issue. It is simply incredible that “My Beautiful Laundrette” was released in 1985 because the movie is so current and so real.

The main themes about the movie deal with cultural clashes between the South Asian immigrants and white Anglo Saxon population, identity politics, and also class. Class is a main theme in the movie. Omar begins to rise in the class system and starts to become a bit arrogant as well.

Meanwhile, Uncle Nasser is having an affair with a white woman Rachel and his daughter Tania and his wife know about this. Tania is depressed she doesn’t want to live in a patriarchal family and she wishes she had more to do with her life.My only criticism of the film is, I think the Tania character should have more screen time.

The issue of sexism and misogyny was explored to a certain extent. I wanted to know more why Tania was so unhappy? I wished her character was more developed. I feel Tania is just a plot device in the film but maybe this was in the intention of the screenwriter.

Tania confronts Rachel at the opening of the Laundrette and Rachel dumps uncle Nasser. I think Tania is a catalyst for change in the film. Johnny’s friends attack him in the third act of the movie because they feel he is betraying them by trying to become a productive citizen. Uncle Salim is also attacked by the street punks. Tania leaves her family and moves on with her life she wants Johnny to go with her. Johnny refuses Tania’s advances and says he loves Omar and he will not leave him.

Uncle Nasser confronts his fears that his ephemeral relationship with Rachel was doomed because he is so unhappy with his marriage. Omar’s father wants Omar to attend college. Omar and Johnny make it out in the end and remain a couple. I absolutely love this fact that neither Omar or Johnny died.

I cringe every single time a gay movie is released and one of the protagonists has to die. Of course, in real life relationships don’t always work and this has to be explored on film. However, in cinema there is a predilection that gay romances are doomed because the subliminal message is gay romance is inferior to heterosexual love. I recommend “My Beautiful Laundrette” to anyone willing to give a movie a chance that deals with gay love in a funny, clever, intelligent, and serious manner.

I Miss Jamaica

large_flag_of_jamaica.gif

The last few days in Toronto have been a nightmare. The snow just keeps on falling, it is so cold here, I just can’t stand it. I wish I was back in Jamaica, sitting on the veranda, sipping orange juice or eating bun & cheese. I can just imagine watching the palm trees sway in the distance.I can almost feel the  cool sea breeze gently caressing my face. Now this would be paradise. I can almost touch the white sand beaches of Negril and swim in the blue sea.

Black Lesbians In Pop Culture, Is It Sexist If Men Are Curious?

tasha-the-l-word.jpgshe-hate-me-lesbian-scene.jpg

I was watching Spike Lee’s movie “She Hate Me” the other day and one scene I really found interesting was the sex scene between Kerry Washington and Dania Ramirez. I was intrigued, as a gay man I rarely ever see women of colour in mainstream films have an erotic lesbian scene together. Even in gay culture lesbians are invisible and black lesbians are displaced due to race, gender, and sexuality.

Spike Lee’s film “She Hate Me” didn’t really explore the relationship between Washington and Ramirez’s characters though. My perspective is both women were used as a plot device for Anthony Mackie’s lead character. I won’t spoil the ending of the movie but it was completely unrealistic. I think a mainstream movie should be made that explores a romantic relationship between two black women. I wonder if this will ever happen?

Sure, I’ve seen straight porn movies that have lesbian scenes but those films are just not realistic or authentic. I already know how lesbians have sex but I think in “She Hate Me” was the first time I saw a romantic and erotic sex scene between women of colour. I found it interesting. Does this make me sexist? I wonder?

I have looked at lesbian erotic magazines before though out of curiosity. However, I think this was the first time I had ever seen an intense sex scene between two women of colour. The lesbian sex scene is rare because it is a lesbian sex scene between two women of colour.

I also was on You Tube the other day and it showed two gorgeous black women making out. I have read comments on various websites that some lesbians were offended by Spike Lee’s movie in the depictions of lesbians being sexually attracted to men. I understand the concerns. However, Kerry Washington’s character in “She Hate Me” clearly was bisexual and not a lesbian and she is sexually attracted to men.

We rarely get to see black lesbians in mainstream films. The last major movie with a black lesbian was Queen Latifah’s character Cleo in the hit indie film “Set It Off”. “Set It Off” I believe jump started Queen’s career. Although rumours still exist about Queen Latifah’s true sexual orientation I thought her performance as the butch aggressive lesbian Cleo was excellent. I think it was brave on Queen Latifah’s part to take on this role.

I would like to see more movies and television shows with black lesbian characters where black lesbians are the lead. I know that Tasha a black lesbian woman is a secondary character on the Showtime Lesbian television show the L Word. However, why did it take the producers until the fourth season to include a black lesbian? We already had a black gay series Noah’s Arc on television.

I think it is time for black lesbians to shine on the silver screen or on television with their own series. According to media reports Meagan Good is going to star in a film “Sundays In Fort Greene” this year and her character is a lesbian. I am so pleased that Meagan is willing to take on this role.I think it really shows the Meagan is willing to stretch her acting skills and diversity her roles.

You Tube isn’t porn or anything but I thought the kissing scene between the two women was sensual. I have to admit I don’t know much about lesbian sex. I do remember seeing two female friends have sex in front of me during high school though at a Halloween party. I have noticed in the lesbian community some lesbians are really upset if men say we find lesbian sex erotic or interesting. So my question is it exploiting lesbian sexuality for men to be curious about lesbians in pop culture?

One Year Anniversary Of My Blog!

one-year-anniverary.jpg

Dear readers it has been exactly one year since I decided to start my own blog. Even though I’m not making money from this blog it is such a pleasure to write. I felt there was a need to provide an alternative perspective about a variety of issues. I feel free to discuss issues that are important to me and not have to deal with an editor censoring my viewpoints. I also have the freedom to write at any time of the day. I love having this freedom!

I didn’t anticipate that people from all over the world would visit my blog. I continue to be amazed. I originally thought that only Canadians or perhaps Americans would visit my blog. People from the England, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Caribbean, Asia and Africa have visited my blog. The internet is truly a global village. Anyone anywhere in the world can visit any website. It is such a pleasure to know people from other countries are interested in visiting and reading my blog entries.

I will admit there were many times in the past year when nobody was visiting the blog in the beginning. I thought to myself should I just delete the blog? Why am I doing this does anyone care? Nobody is visiting the blog? Maybe I should just give up?

Suddenly, I started to write about issues that I felt were important and the traffic started. I must point out my blog isn’t getting a million hits or something like that. No I have not received any e-mails from corporations asking me to promote their products. I think my blog has grown at a steady rate due to word of mouth. I just was unimpressed with the mainstream gay media they weren’t writing about the issues I felt were important. Also the gay community is not a myopic group this is a fallacy and a lie.

Gay people of colour we are displaced by a racist mainstream white gay network that has this racist attitude they speak for all gay people. A few incidents in the past year underscored the entrenched racism of the mainstream white gay community. The biggest issue was the fallout over the Isaiah Washington and TR Knight Grey’s Anatomy drama. GLAAD basically wanted to destroy Isaiah’s career but they failed and thank goodness for this fact. GLAAD is no friend to black gays and lesbians.

Suddenly, Isaiah Washington was being stereotyped as the classic angry aggressive black man and TR Knight was depicted as the innocent white gay victim. TR Knight is no victim he is a manipulator that used the controversy to advance his own career. I lost respect for TR Knight when he went on Ellen Degeneres and played the victim card. Ellen Degeneres is also a part of the white gay mafia network in the United States.

The media immediately supported TR Knight without examining the hypocrisy of ABC television and the whole story.

Another important topic in 2007 I discussed was the issue of white gays suddenly protesting homophobia in Jamaican Dance Hall music in Toronto Canada. First off, white homosexuals have no business being involved in the issue around homophobia in Dance Hall music. I question the motivation of the white gay groups and I know beneath the surface is their hatred for blacks especially black men. The only reason white gays want to have Jamaican Dance Hall banned is because they have their own racist anti black prejudices. Why don’t the white gay organizations try to get Marilyn Manson and Enimen banned? Notice the white gay groups only target black entertainers. Suddenly, EGALE got involved and the media claimed Jamaica was the most homophobic place on earth.

Of course, on my blog I pointed out homophobia is a global phenomenon it is not restricted to just one race. Homophobia occurs in many different parts of the world in Australia, Africa, Asia, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, United States, Western and Eastern Europe as well. The white gay organizations and media want to create a pathology against the black race and render us as inferior.

Of course, the white gay power organizations ignore the issues of homophobia within the white culture. Black people we don’t need paternalistic racist white people to preach to the black race about tolerance. Why don’t the white gays focus on white gay culture and get a life? Why didn’t the white gay media organizations and the mainstream press focus on the white gays getting bashed in good old Eastern Europe? Go to You-tube and you will see all the lovely videos of white gays being bashed in Serbia, Croatia, and Russia! In Russia, Serbia, and Croatia, white gays are being attacked by other white people.

In May 2007 white gay activists in Moscow Russia were brutally bashed by an anti gay white Russian crowd. Why didn’t the mainstream press report this to the masses? What the hell do white gay organizations such as EGALE know about Jamaican culture? I am Jamaican I know a hell lot more about Jamaican culture then some patronizing, paternalistic white gay group! I noticed the mainstream media focused on just the white gay organizations when discussing gay issues and totally ignored blacks gays and lesbians.

White gay organizations are only focused on white gay rights they should be real and honest about this fact. Also, when Michael Sandy a young black gay man was murdered in October 2006 by four young white men in New York City GLAAD or HRC didn’t care. GLAAD and HRC viewed Michael Sandy as just another black person. I am here to state that white gay organizations do not speak for me! I speak for myself and this is a fact! I also do not speak for all gay black people all I can say is I am presenting my arguments and my perspective.

There is so much diversity and multiplicity in the homosexual world and the public needs to know this. I don’t subscribe to the racist anti black attitudes of the mainstream gay media organizations such as the Advocate, EGALE, GLAAD, HRC, Out Magazine, Afterelton.com, and Afterellen.com. I realized my voice needed to be heard and my blog is the perfect place to explore my thoughts.

I also was disgusted with the whole Shirley Q Liquor controversy in 2007. Charles Knipp a white gay man performs in blackface and makes the most disgusting and racist jokes about black women and the black community. Jann Wenner a white homosexual man owns Rolling Stone and he profiled Knipp in his publication. I will never buy Rolling Stone magazine again. Wenner also owns US Magazine as well. Wenner has no problem promoting anti black racism yet this racist bigot screams if anyone challenges white gays. Give me a break.

Another racist in the gay media is Kevin Naff the editor of the Washington Blade newspaper. Naff defends Don Imus racist and sexist comments about black women in an April 13th 2007 editorial. Would Naff support Imus if Imus made a comment white gays found offensive? Give me a break! Kevin Naff has no right to preach to black people and tell us which issues are important to the black race.

I am so grateful that there are actually people listening to me and reading my perspective. I rock the boat I don’t follow the crowd I make my own decisions and if some people feel antagonized or upset well too bad. I have to express myself.

I can’t believe an entire years has passed so quickly! When I first started my blog I will be honest I never had any hits until around May 2007. I didn’t know how to post pictures, or You Tube clips or anything. I knew very little about computers. I decided to start my blog because I wanted to express my thoughts about a variety of issues. It really wasn’t until the summer of 2007 that the blog’s traffic really increased and the blog’s traffic continued to move up in the fall of 2007 and I was surprised.

I think I was most surprised in the amount of comments I received in the past year. Some people agree with me and some people don’t and that’s great. I am very impressed with the passionate responses I received about a variety of issues. People really want to engage in a discussion and express themselves too. Diversity of opinion is important. I only received one hate e-mail in the past year but I laughed it off because that person I just couldn’t take him seriously.

I sometimes wonder would people really care what a gay black Canadian male thinks? I was tired of being invisible and I wanted to present my perspective about issues. I don’t have a particular theme to the blog because I just decide to blog about whatever is on my mind at the moment. I don’t just concentrate on gay issues because being gay is only a part of my identity. I do write about black issues and Canadian concerns because I am from Canada. I write about anything that interests me.
