Jensen Atwood May Not Return For Noah’s Arc Movie?

jensen-atwood.jpg

I just heard that Jensen Atwood the gorgeous talented actor from Noah’s Arc may not return for the movie. According, to Jensen’s Myspace blog, he says that he isn’t certain if he will return for the film. The rumor is that Shemar Moore may replace Jensen. Isn’t Shemar Moore kind of old the guy is almost forty?

Of course, Shemar Moore is attractive , but he’s not very good at romantic comedies his acting comes across as stale, dry, lacking layers, complexity, and wooden. When people think of Shemar Moore, they think he’s an attractive man nobody thinks he’s a solid dramatic actor.

If Shemar doesn’t get his act together when his looks fade he may be out of work. Shemar has always been typecast in just about every movie he’s been in as the hot guy. Perhaps, Shemar wants to be in the Noah’s Arc movie to demonstrate he has range?

The character Wade, on Noah’s Arc, is a tough role in relation to acting. Wade has a strong masculinity yet he is also vulnerable. Shemar Moore never impressed me with his acting. I just don’t think Shemar has the range or talent to pull this performance off.

Also would Shemar be comfortable kissing another black man? Shouldn’t a younger actor such as Jensen Atwood be cast? Also, isn’t Shemar upset about the so called gay rumors? Wouldn’t the gay rumors just fuel the fire if Shemar was starring in the Noah’s Arc movie?

The quandary, for the Noah’s Arc movie, is how can the film reach a larger audience? LOGO wants the movie to make money but I am not sure Shemar Moore is “famous” enough anyway to attract a larger audience anyway. Shemar Moore has been on a few soaps, a few supporting roles in films, and on a CBS show “Criminal Intent” but he’s never been a leading man.

Gay people already know about Noah’s Arc and perhaps a few heterosexual women. However, the dilemma for the marketing team for the Noah’s Arc movie is how can the movie grow and reach other demographics? Can Noah’s Arc reach the lucrative heterosexual black audience such as the Tyler Perry crowd?

The dilemma, for black gay and lesbian entertainment are the barriers in relation to race, gender, and sexual orientation.

Race is an issue, because some people won’t watch the film because it has a black cast. The gender and sexual orientation is another issue because how many black heterosexual women want to watch a movie about black gay men falling in love? How many black heterosexual men would watch the film? Can some black females handle seeing gorgeous and sexy black males kissing on screen? Will it upset them?

I think since Jensen Atwood developed an audience with his character the sexy, mysterious Wade he should be cast in the film. Now of course, this is just my opinion but remember Hollywood is a business and it is profit driven.

Remember earlier this week Sean Combs ruined “A Raisin In The Sun” with his horrible acting? Well the ratings are in and despite Combs ludicrous performance the movie had a respectable ratings of 12.7 million viewers on ABC.

I will admit, I am sure some people tuned in just to see if Combs can act. LOGO doesn’t want the movie to be released in just a few hundred theaters and pull in a low box office. Also, how many people know about Noah’s Arc anyway?

I didn’t realize that there was a movie in the works. I would also prefer to see the original actor in the movie version.

OASN, I’ve heard that the only out actor in the cast is the one who pplays the dad role. I know it shouldn’t matter but what do you know about this?

Though I’m not gay, I have on occasion watched Noah’s Ark and found it interesting, funny, entertaining and at times educational. I don’t know enough about Jensen Atwood to have an opinion, but I do agree that Shemar Moore is an awful actor and one that has repeatedly denounced being gay, so I would have a hard time accepting him playing a gay role. I do think that there are many hetro actors that can pull a gay role off, but there is just something about Shemar that irks me. As I said, his acting sucks, he’d be too old for that role and he would cause a lot more questions than he’s ever before.

    Love!

I really wish there would have been at least one more season of the show, I loved it, but I am happy that the movie is picking up where the show left off. Not to take anything from Shemar Moore but I do not think he would be a proper replacement for Jensen Atwood I just don’t feel he would be very believable as Wade.

Wow, almost 40 is old- Sad thinking or use of words. Just tired of hearing comments about 40 being old, I’m not there yet but geeze, a scary thought to think 40 is considered old.

Isn’t Jenson Atwood in his 30’s? It’s not as if the N.A characcters except Noah appeared believable that they were in their 20’s. Shemar would be good I think. It’s gay black fluff.

    Thought provoking Site btw.

Shemar is still HOT. Probably will be when he gets OLDer too. Sexiness/hotness is not solely reliable on supermodel looks, imho, but often, it pertains to the eyes, confidence, sense of humor/wit, intellect, kindness, etc…. Perhaps, Shemar could play the older lover of another young man, or he could play my lover….;)

I would luv to see Jensen Atwood in the movie, I fell in love with him in Noah’s Arch and I havent fallen out with him yet. Mr. Moore is a pretty good actor, we should not talk down about him, we as black men know how hard it is to get work as it is just because. I agree with Langston about the age thing, I think thats a white thing, blacks all ways ride on the back of negative of white people instead of learning something positive. 40 is far from old and I’m not saying this because I’m over that, as a matter of fact, people still mistaken me for in my 30’s, i soon correct them. No matter where Jensen is at, he is definately in my heart.

Don’t get me wrong, I love both actors;but I just can’t see Shemar playing Wade in the movie. Jensen brings that sexy, mysterious flavor to the character and I strongly feel that he should reprise his role as Wade. Besides, Shemar has always been quoted saying that he isn’t gay, so to play a gay character would definitely contradict those claims!

I think that noah’s arc the movie will not make it if Wade and Noah are not a part of it. I mean the really Wade (Jensen Atwood ) I think the should bring all the cast back I love Noah’s Arc.

What???? Shemar Moore cannot act! Sure he has the look but Jensen Atwood has demonstrated time and time again that he’s got skills!!!! You would have made a huge mistake by not allowing him to finish what he started and that is portraying a very believable character Wade the love interest of another man in Noah’s Ark the series. He has already proven that he can handle such a tenacious roll why mess with it? ” If it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it,” is what my grandma always said. You know she was right. Don’t worry if people will come see the movie because when you cast Atwood THEY WILL COME!!!!!!!! You made the right decision! Atwood was the better choice! Thank you!

I totally agree… If Jensen is not Wade the movie will not be worth seeing. The chemistry between Wade and Noah is perfect. So why mess with perfection.

I will be extremely tormented if Jensen Atwood is not it the movie. He is just about everyone’s favorite character in the movie and I garrentee you most of the people that watch it will not want to see it. Especially myself as a matter of fact he is the main purose i watch the show in the first place, because omg.. he is so fine and his acting skills are outstandingly astranomically good. So I pray he is in it foreal!

I read your article to learn more about Jensen Atwood’s participation in the Noah Arc feature film.

Instead I got reminded just how shallow and vapid SOME gay men can be about age.

Kind of old at 40? Only a clueless gay man could come up with that one. Just wait – your 40 time is coming and unless you develop a new attitude about age and the sheer joy of life – your 40 won’t be pretty. As a matter of fact, with your attitude – your NOW ain’t pretty either. Idiot!

OMG Jenson Atwood is SSOOO DAMN SEXXXXYYYY!!!!!! He is blessed!!!!!! On a scale from 1-10 he’s an 11. I mean other than the show being exciting and romantic yet funny I primarily watch it because of Atwood. I didn’t realize there was a movie coming out but Atwood definantly needs to play Wade otherwise it wouldn’t be the same. I don’t think anyone can play it better than him especially not Shemar Moore………who is that!!!!???? The name sounds familiar but I can’t register his face so obviously he’s not that famous. I LOVE Noah’s Arc and I can’t believe they left us as the audience hanging with an ending that should be continued….but that explains why the movie’s coming out right!!! Jensen baby I am your #1 fan and we NEED to meet!!!!! In the mean time keep being the best actor that you are…with your sexxyy ass!!!!!!

Yes I agree that production did them selves a favor by putting Jensen back in the cast. The movie would have been a total flop without him. He’s the only character that shows that gay black men can be “normal” and not skipping around like over sexed queens. (not to call anybody out, but I’m just sayin’.. 🙂 I’m Not sure if his acting is soooo incredible as people are saying, I just think he’s right for the role. (Don’t get me wrong, he does a good job).
And yes he is pretty dope looking, while still fitting in with most above average black Americans. (Meaning, he’s not the stereotypical mixed, barely black with straight or curly hair and light eyes…. he’s just a straight up good looking black brotha.)

Oh my, I just found this site.. As a hetero black, Christian female I love Noah’s Arc. I think the stories are well written and I can look beyond the intimacy of two gorgeous men.. These bruthas are fine.. all of them have something about them that I find very attractive.

I can’t believe Atwood would not play his part.. and Shamar, he is over rated. I think he is a very nice guy and handsome, but I prefer to see him in more dramatic roles as he does in Criminal Minds.. they seem to be more convincing.

I stumbled upon Noah’s Arc while surfing the channels, and after watching a documentary. But what caught my interest was that the story line is centered around 4 black males. I think I can relate to this better than most mainstream shows, even though the characters are gay.

i’m a so called down brother- i have a common law wife but my wife doesn’t know that two of my best friends are really my, “homie, lover, friend”. Wade reminds me of myself. i believe that he has the following already to help make a NA”s movie a success. i know this may sound strange but i wish there was a show that portrays the lifestlye of downlow brothers like myself. All the characters on NA are cool but they are out and to me there is nothing interesting about that. Wade is so intriguing because girls and guys like him even though they knw he is gay.

Not that I have anything against Shemar Moore but Mr. Atwood originated the role and would be best for the part. He is Wade and without him the movie is just a movie. Adding characters is one thing replacing them is another. Now if Jensen does not won’t the part what can you do? If he does on the other hand it should be his. And would it please play in San Diego, California. There’s an audience here as well.

OK, when is the movie coming out, I read that Jensen is NOT gay, just playing a part. I just found out about Noah’s Arc and I bought the whole series, loved it, I’m a heteralsexual woman and I believe any woman who watches this series would luv it also, I think they should keep the original the ori characters – otherwise it would not be the same. , are we talking about Jumping the Broom movie or is it going to be a different movie. I fell in love with Jumping the Broom also.

It came down to cash I’m sure. I mean how could the producers do a movie about the love of Noah’s life, and it not be the character originally cast as Wade (Jensen Atwood). The movie turned out stellar. Sure the box office receipts may have been dismal, but the retail sales in the DVD market on internet revenues have made this film a financial winner, if not only for it’s amazing and heartfelt story for all.
