One Year Anniversary Of My Blog!

one-year-anniverary.jpg

Dear readers it has been exactly one year since I decided to start my own blog. Even though I’m not making money from this blog it is such a pleasure to write. I felt there was a need to provide an alternative perspective about a variety of issues. I feel free to discuss issues that are important to me and not have to deal with an editor censoring my viewpoints. I also have the freedom to write at any time of the day. I love having this freedom!

I didn’t anticipate that people from all over the world would visit my blog. I continue to be amazed. I originally thought that only Canadians or perhaps Americans would visit my blog. People from the England, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Caribbean, Asia and Africa have visited my blog. The internet is truly a global village. Anyone anywhere in the world can visit any website. It is such a pleasure to know people from other countries are interested in visiting and reading my blog entries.

I will admit there were many times in the past year when nobody was visiting the blog in the beginning. I thought to myself should I just delete the blog? Why am I doing this does anyone care? Nobody is visiting the blog? Maybe I should just give up?

Suddenly, I started to write about issues that I felt were important and the traffic started. I must point out my blog isn’t getting a million hits or something like that. No I have not received any e-mails from corporations asking me to promote their products. I think my blog has grown at a steady rate due to word of mouth. I just was unimpressed with the mainstream gay media they weren’t writing about the issues I felt were important. Also the gay community is not a myopic group this is a fallacy and a lie.

Gay people of colour we are displaced by a racist mainstream white gay network that has this racist attitude they speak for all gay people. A few incidents in the past year underscored the entrenched racism of the mainstream white gay community. The biggest issue was the fallout over the Isaiah Washington and TR Knight Grey’s Anatomy drama. GLAAD basically wanted to destroy Isaiah’s career but they failed and thank goodness for this fact. GLAAD is no friend to black gays and lesbians.

Suddenly, Isaiah Washington was being stereotyped as the classic angry aggressive black man and TR Knight was depicted as the innocent white gay victim. TR Knight is no victim he is a manipulator that used the controversy to advance his own career. I lost respect for TR Knight when he went on Ellen Degeneres and played the victim card. Ellen Degeneres is also a part of the white gay mafia network in the United States.

The media immediately supported TR Knight without examining the hypocrisy of ABC television and the whole story.

Another important topic in 2007 I discussed was the issue of white gays suddenly protesting homophobia in Jamaican Dance Hall music in Toronto Canada. First off, white homosexuals have no business being involved in the issue around homophobia in Dance Hall music. I question the motivation of the white gay groups and I know beneath the surface is their hatred for blacks especially black men. The only reason white gays want to have Jamaican Dance Hall banned is because they have their own racist anti black prejudices. Why don’t the white gay organizations try to get Marilyn Manson and Enimen banned? Notice the white gay groups only target black entertainers. Suddenly, EGALE got involved and the media claimed Jamaica was the most homophobic place on earth.

Of course, on my blog I pointed out homophobia is a global phenomenon it is not restricted to just one race. Homophobia occurs in many different parts of the world in Australia, Africa, Asia, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, United States, Western and Eastern Europe as well. The white gay organizations and media want to create a pathology against the black race and render us as inferior.

Of course, the white gay power organizations ignore the issues of homophobia within the white culture. Black people we don’t need paternalistic racist white people to preach to the black race about tolerance. Why don’t the white gays focus on white gay culture and get a life? Why didn’t the white gay media organizations and the mainstream press focus on the white gays getting bashed in good old Eastern Europe? Go to You-tube and you will see all the lovely videos of white gays being bashed in Serbia, Croatia, and Russia! In Russia, Serbia, and Croatia, white gays are being attacked by other white people.

In May 2007 white gay activists in Moscow Russia were brutally bashed by an anti gay white Russian crowd. Why didn’t the mainstream press report this to the masses? What the hell do white gay organizations such as EGALE know about Jamaican culture? I am Jamaican I know a hell lot more about Jamaican culture then some patronizing, paternalistic white gay group! I noticed the mainstream media focused on just the white gay organizations when discussing gay issues and totally ignored blacks gays and lesbians.

White gay organizations are only focused on white gay rights they should be real and honest about this fact. Also, when Michael Sandy a young black gay man was murdered in October 2006 by four young white men in New York City GLAAD or HRC didn’t care. GLAAD and HRC viewed Michael Sandy as just another black person. I am here to state that white gay organizations do not speak for me! I speak for myself and this is a fact! I also do not speak for all gay black people all I can say is I am presenting my arguments and my perspective.

There is so much diversity and multiplicity in the homosexual world and the public needs to know this. I don’t subscribe to the racist anti black attitudes of the mainstream gay media organizations such as the Advocate, EGALE, GLAAD, HRC, Out Magazine, Afterelton.com, and Afterellen.com. I realized my voice needed to be heard and my blog is the perfect place to explore my thoughts.

I also was disgusted with the whole Shirley Q Liquor controversy in 2007. Charles Knipp a white gay man performs in blackface and makes the most disgusting and racist jokes about black women and the black community. Jann Wenner a white homosexual man owns Rolling Stone and he profiled Knipp in his publication. I will never buy Rolling Stone magazine again. Wenner also owns US Magazine as well. Wenner has no problem promoting anti black racism yet this racist bigot screams if anyone challenges white gays. Give me a break.

Another racist in the gay media is Kevin Naff the editor of the Washington Blade newspaper. Naff defends Don Imus racist and sexist comments about black women in an April 13th 2007 editorial. Would Naff support Imus if Imus made a comment white gays found offensive? Give me a break! Kevin Naff has no right to preach to black people and tell us which issues are important to the black race.

I am so grateful that there are actually people listening to me and reading my perspective. I rock the boat I don’t follow the crowd I make my own decisions and if some people feel antagonized or upset well too bad. I have to express myself.

I can’t believe an entire years has passed so quickly! When I first started my blog I will be honest I never had any hits until around May 2007. I didn’t know how to post pictures, or You Tube clips or anything. I knew very little about computers. I decided to start my blog because I wanted to express my thoughts about a variety of issues. It really wasn’t until the summer of 2007 that the blog’s traffic really increased and the blog’s traffic continued to move up in the fall of 2007 and I was surprised.

I think I was most surprised in the amount of comments I received in the past year. Some people agree with me and some people don’t and that’s great. I am very impressed with the passionate responses I received about a variety of issues. People really want to engage in a discussion and express themselves too. Diversity of opinion is important. I only received one hate e-mail in the past year but I laughed it off because that person I just couldn’t take him seriously.

I sometimes wonder would people really care what a gay black Canadian male thinks? I was tired of being invisible and I wanted to present my perspective about issues. I don’t have a particular theme to the blog because I just decide to blog about whatever is on my mind at the moment. I don’t just concentrate on gay issues because being gay is only a part of my identity. I do write about black issues and Canadian concerns because I am from Canada. I write about anything that interests me.
