Can Queen Latifah Come Out As A Lesbian & Still Have The Respect Of The Black Community?
The blogs are exploding with rumours that Queen Latifah and her girlfriend Jeanette Jenkins are going to have a commitment ceremony. The other story is, that Queen Latifah may officially come out as a lesbian. I doubt Queen Latifah will come out of the closet right now.
However, she isn’t lying she is a lesbian and she’s not hiding either. Queen Latifah basically lives in the glass closet. Everybody, already knows Queen is in love with her “fitness trainer” Jeanette Jenkins. Whenever, Queen is promoting a movie, at a celebrity event, or just doing regular things Jeanette is always there. Now one argument is, that Jeanette is just Queen Latifah’s good friend, but people can tell they are a couple.
Queen Latifah is aware of the fact the public lens is watching her. She never show up at a movie premiere or a high profile celebrity event dressed as a butch. At high profile celebrity events Queen Latifah always looks glamorous in elegant gowns, carefully applied makeup, and high heels. Once Queen Latifah is off the celebrity platform she can be seen riding her motorcycle and dresses like a typical butch lesbian. Queen Latifah carefully navigates the butch and feminine imagery in the public sphere.
Some people believe the rumours go back to 1996 when Queen Latifah played the butch lesbian Cleo in the hit film “Set It Off”. However, the rumours about Queen Latifah and Jeanette Jenkins are intensifying not because of what Queen says but what she doesn’t say. When was the last time you saw Queen Latifah with a man? It is a fair question.
I am not suggesting just because a woman is single for a long time means she’s gay. However, we have never ever seen Queen Latifah romantically linked to a man we always see her with Jeanette. The public is shrewd enough to connect the dots and discern that Queen Latifah is a lesbian.
In the October 2007 issue, of Ebony magazine, Queen Latifah was actually asked by Ebony if she was dating Jeanette Jenkins. Ebony is the top black magazine in the world and Ebony usually never asks black stars personal questions. Ebony is all about black community “uplift”, and not about getting involved with black stars private lives. Ebony can be boring at times but the interview with Queen Latifah was definitely interesting. However, Queen Latifah provided a very evasive answer and didn’t deny she was a lesbian.
Queen Latifah is also cognizant of the fact since she’s a black lesbian she cannot just come out like Ellen Degeneres. Ellen Degeneres had the support of the liberal white American media on her side. Queen Latifah’s situation is a bit more precarious since she is a black lesbian. Would the black media support Queen Latifah if she declared she is a lesbian? Degeneres was on the cover of Time Magazine in 1997 when she came out. Degeneres is also not a movie star she’s a comedian and she’s also white.
Queen Latifah does have more barriers because she is a black lesbian and her core audience are black Americans. Although Queen Latifah has “crossed over” in the last couple of years into the mainstream with Cover Girl and numerous other high profile endorsements. Queen Latifah always presents the image that she “cares” about what the black community thinks about her.
It appears to me Queen Latifah is struggling navigating the questions about her sexuality. Again, Queen Latifah has never been seen dating a man. Queen Latifah always says in interviews she’s looking for a “good brother” or she hasn’t found the “right man” yet. It is obvious Queen Latifah is a lesbian the public can read between the lines. Black Celebrities have it tougher because they have to deal with the public and private spheres.
Black celebrities are a part of pop culture the media and the public become curious when they notice certain things. Queen Latifah’s “personal life” has always been off limits. Of course, on the one hand that’s important everyone wants to maintain a certain level of mystery and have some privacy. On the other hand, it is well known publicists of the closeted black gay stars also understand in maintaining the status quo. There are numerous female rappers that are gay but they don’t have the same high profile Queen Latifah has so the media and public are apathetic to them.
It is well known that different cultures view homosexuality differently. I actually think because Queen Latifah is a black lesbian it would be much easier for her to come out. There is an anti lesbian attitude in society and lesbians do encounter discrimination in relation to gender and sexual orientation. However, the mainstream doesn’t have the same fear of lesbianism as it does with male homosexuality. There is still an intense hatred society has for gay men.
I definitely think there is so much negativity towards black gay male sexuality. It would be very difficult for a black gay man to come out. For instance, R&B Tevin Campbell was caught soliciting an undercover male police officer. Tevin has not come out of the closet but is an open secret in the black community that he’s gay. Tevin is currently on Broadway in the play “Hairspray”.
Everyone, in the black global community knows Luther Vandross was gay yet during his lifetime Luther never disclosed his sexual orientation. It was an open secret that Luther was indeed gay. Luther Vandross had a “don’t ask don’t tell” policy with the black audience. We all sing Luther’s songs, attend his concerts, buy the DVDs and CDs. However, the game was that Luther was asexual or at least he had to appear asexual for us to respect him.
Ebony, Essence, Upscale, Vibe, and the other black entertainment publications never asked Luther about his homosexuality. The topic was off limits. I think that’s the tragedy of Luther’s life that he wasn’t able to be himself in the public sphere. Its the hypocrisy of the black community that’s disconcerting. On black blogs such as Bossip, Crunk and Disorderly, Mediatakeout, and other black blogs the homophobia can be incredible.
Another point to consider, is openly gay and closeted black gay stars cannot count on the mainstream white gay community as a potential market. Black gay stars are rarely ever mentioned in the mainstream white gay media. Black gay and lesbian celebrities know their main market is the black audience.
If you bother to pick up the glossy white gay magazines such as Out Magazine, Girlfriends Magazine, or the Advocate you will notice gay people of colour don’t exist. If you surf some of the white gay media blogs there is a condescending, patronizing, and racist attitude towards black gays and lesbians. Black gays and lesbians we are marginalized due to race, gender, and sexuality.
A few white mainstream gay media blogs, have a “corner” on their websites marked “gay people of colour” as if that’s all we are. Being black and gay is more then just being displaced and branded on some white gay media website. We are multi dimensional people and there is more to us then being categorized and stigmatized into a cardboard box. I find these kinds of barriers limiting no wonder some black gays don’t trust the white gay community.
You will also notice most of the time the people on the cover the mainstream gay magazines are white gays not black gays. Also, when the Advocate does have a black star on the cover the celebrity is usually straight. For example, Mary J Blige was recently on the cover of The Advocate. The public image of blackness is still compulsory heterosexuality and once again black gays and lesbians we are branded as “the other”.
Even in lesbian pop culture on the television program the L Word why is the only black woman on the program Pam Grier’s character straight? Why isn’t Grier’s character a lesbian? The L Word is about lesbians and bisexual women yet the only black woman on the program is heterosexual. I find this annoying, irritating, but not surprising. Black lesbians are once again displaced in pop culture. The producers and writers behind the L Word have a right to do whatever they want it is their show. However, I think Pam Grier’s character should be a lesbian not a heterosexual woman. We need more representations of black lesbians in pop culture. Yes, Jennifer Beals plays a lesbian on the L Word but Jennifer Beals has never declared that she is a “part” of the black community. Beals is mixed race and she’s always kept a distance from the black race and black issues.
There is an eerie silence to the issue of racism and prejudice of the mainstream white gay media. Luther Vandross never attempted to reach out to the white gay press during his lifetime. Vandross simply did not trust the gay white media. Rosie O Donnell and Ellen Degeneres are white lesbians they are a part of the white gay American community. Queen Latifah is a black lesbian although she is popular she is not white. The white gay press also has a consistent racist paternalistic attitude to the issue of homophobia in the black community. Meanwhile, the white gay press ignores the bigotry within the white race. It will be interesting to see what Queen Latifah will do? The questions about Queen Latifah’s sexuality have even entered mainstream media publications. Everyone is just waiting to see when Queen Latifah will come out or not?
I think there might be a slight backlash against Queen Latifah if she came out as a lesbian. Some people may be shocked but there have been rumours of other high profile black female celebrities being lesbians as well.
There have never ever been a high profile A list black lesbian celebrity to come out of the closet yet. Although the former WNBA basketball star Sheryl Swoopes did come out a few years ago. The public was apathetic to Swoopes coming out announcement people just shrugged their shoulders. Swoopes was very brave in coming out of the closet. Swoopes is an Olympic gold medalist. However, since women’s basketball has a low profile in the American sports culture there was indifference to Swoopes coming out.
Nobody, was shocked when Swoopes declared she is a lesbian. Although it may not be politically correct to say this the WNBA has the public image of being a haven for lesbianism. There are a lot of stereotypes associated with women’s sports. Swoopes, coming out as a black lesbian didn’t exactly shatter these stereotypes. Although, it was commendable that Swoopes came out it just wasn’t a big story. Queen Latifah’s situation is entitely different she’s a well known A list Hollywood movie star. I think there is still the unknown and that’s probably the reason Queen Latifah hasn’t come out yet.

I love her as an Actor but I don’t care about her personal life or what she does in the bedroom. Just as much as I respect those who don’t care what I do in my bedroom!
All the power to her!
*I’m a lesbian too* but I don’t care if she is or not.
Queen Latifah is definitely a good actress when given the right material such as the HBO film “Life Support”. Although she has been typecast lately as the stereotypical black mammy in the recent film Hairspray.
Why do people still have to “come out”? why should we assume that someone is straight until they announce to the world that they are otherwise gay? Maybe they’re not in the “closet” but just not assuming that everyone else isn’t aware. I thinkg it’s time to do away with “coming out”. Wer shouldn’t assume that someone is claiming to be straight and requite them to announce a side.
Kirstin, the reason is due to heterosexism there is an assumption that everyone is heterosexual. Society forces gay people to hide our homosexuality due to fear, shame, and also violence. It is important for gay people to come out of the closet. There is safety in large numbers the more gay people that come out of the closet the better society will be.
“Slight backlash” is only half of what would happen to Queen if she came out…even though us, as Black folks, know…we openly ignore her homosexuality…it’s quite sad that people can’t openly live their lives and still do their thing without fear of ruining their careers…
With Luther, I think it was different…Luther was like the cousin we all have that is gay…we don’t talk about it, but we all know…everytime that Luther talked about being in love and he went through his weight changes, we knew…but I think because of his career in music, we didn’t care…we often give musicians a bit more freedom than we do other stars (don’t know why; just happens)…
I personally don’t give a rat’s ass…be who you are…but my attitude is not the world’s attitude…
I think Queen Latifah understands the black audience is her main market. I think Queen Latifah knows there are some religious heterosexual black people that might give her a hard time if she did come out. In relation to Luther Vandross I agree everyone knew Luther was gay he was a part of the family. It was just sad that Luther wasn’t able to “say” he was “gay”. Luther also could not count on the mainstream gay media for support so he ignored them also. Yet some in the gay press accused Luther of “hiding in the closet.” I think its kind of sad that Luther wasn’t able to be honest in the public sphere but I understand he had to think about his business.
I don’t care either if Latifah is a lesbian or not. She is bloody brilliant. I don’t think her sexual orientation should matter but it does matter to close-minded people who would hate her if she was a lesbian. I find logic like that dumb-founding.
I’m no fortune teller but I just refuse to believe that if King Latifah came out, she and her career would be doomed. I don’t believe this.
Ain’t nobody in no fantasy world about her. Erbody know he gay.
Not only that, King Latifah has never been marketed as a “sexy” woman. This is a rapper turned actor.
No one is expecting nude scenes with a man from her. No one is expecting open mouth kisses with her male co-star. No one is expecting on-screen heterosexual sex from her.
So, it’s not like some fantasy of her as a sex goddess would be ruined. They seem to market her pretty much as asexual in films, don’t they?
She’s as feminine as a linebacker. And no one is buying into her as a sex kitten.
So, I don’t believe her career would be over when she admits what everybody already knows, anyway.
“At high profile celebrity events Queen Latifah always looks glamorous in elegant gowns, carefully applied makeup, and high heels. ”
She ain’t never looked glamorous; made up; yes; nice; yes; done up; yes; femmed up; yes; glamorous — I’ve never seen this. Ertime I turn around, I’m looking at her popped out tits in an evening gown. Me and my friends laugh at this lie. So hysterical. Just a lie. There’s no heel high enough, push up bra pusy enough, eye shadow shadowy enough to shroud this truth which emanates from King.
I say, stop it with the fucking bullshit. Chile, erbody know. I don’t see the point for this facade. Not at all.
Oh. And the answer to your question.
Yes. Absolutely.
Girlfriend you are so funny with this quote, “she’s as feminine as a linebacker. And no one is buying into her as a sex kitten.” LOL!!!! Girlfriend, I co sign with this statement! It is so true, Queen Latifah is very asexual she is once again the classic asexual black mammy. I think she has only had two movies with a male love interest. One of the films was “Last Holiday” LL Cool J was her love interest. And another film she had this year called “Life Support” she had a male love interest. In most of Queen Latifah’s films she doesn’t have a man but she’s the loving, nurturing, and faithful mammy like this year’s movie Hairspray.
I think you are indeed correct about the “marketing” of Queen Latifah. Queen Latifah is not really marketed as a “sexual” woman like Halle Berry, Sanaa Lathan, or Gabrielle Union. Queen Latifah is marketed as asexual. So I think Queen Latifah can still have a successful career because again society isn’t afraid of lesbians but are afraid of gay men. Now if a high profile black male actor came out I think his career could be in danger. Queen Latifah has never been positioned by Hollywood as a romantic lead anyway. Queen Latifah has always been secondary she’s had very few male love interests in her films. Everyone knows Queen Latifah is a lesbian she’s not hiding her lesbianism at all. I doubt anyone would be shocked when she announces she’s gay.
Okay when I said Queen Latifah looks “glamorous” at celebrity events I should of said she’s trying to look more feminine and not look butch. I think Queen Latifah knows that if she did dress butch at celebrity events the rumors will grow louder. I mean look at Ellen Degeneres and Rosie O Donnell everyone knows they are butch lesbians. Rosie and Ellen are butches they dress very masculine, they don’t wear makeup, and they come across as very masculine. Queen Latifah I don’t know if she is a femme? But I am not sure she is as much a butch as Ellen and Rosie? I do think Queen Latifah is more feminine then Rosie and Ellen that’s for sure.
I do notice at celebrity events Queen Latifah does make the effort to look feminine. I think she understands the public lens is watching her too. However, I notice off the celebrity platform she does dress much differently.
I think at this point with Queen Latifah the public already knows. Although I am not famous at all I remember it was a struggle to come out and declare I am homosexual. I mean if Ebony Magazine which is usually very “hands off” with celebrity interviews asks Queen Latifah about her lesbianism it means the black community already knows. However, I do question if Ebony would ever dare ask Luther Vandross when he was alive if he was gay?
Queen Latifah lives in a glass closet we all can see that she’s gay and she’s not hiding that she’s a lesbian. Queen Latifah visits lesbian bars in Los Angeles and New York City. So people “see” her in public and people “know”.
Also, since Queen Latifah is a woman it will be much easier for her there will be a shrug of the shoulders and people will move on. Look at Portia De Rossi and Cynthia Nixon from Sex and the City they are both lesbians and both have thriving careers. Nobody cared, nobody stopped them from acting.
At this point everyone knows about Queen Latifah she might as well come out but its up to her ultimately.
But it’s all so outrageous to me.
I weep for them — Queen and the others who cannot be their true selves publicly. Imagine all those millions, yet still…
I agree, with men — especially leading men who might be marketed exclusively as masculine, rugged, etc. — I suppose that would be career suicide. You’re right. Hollywood, and society in general, is far more accepting of lesbian homosexuality.
But let me ask this? Once we decide they’re gay (men or women) or once it’s highly rumoured that they are, don’t we already look at them as something else other than what they’re portraying? It can’t really be true that just because actors and actresses don’t out themselves publicly that somehow, magically people accept them as straight and believe in them when they act. I think not. At least for me, once I have that strong suspicion or when it’s plainly obvious, then that’s it. I am unable to suspend disbelief over that.
It’s easy for me to advocate for transparency but I know the struggles they face. However, with that said, it is a case by case situation.
I think Queen Latifah should stop evading this. I just don’t believe this would harm her career.
Maybe that’s a utopian view.
For the most part I think everyone who follows her career already knows she’s a lesbian, although they’ve never heard the words come out of her mouth.
Plus if you watch any of the roles she’s had where she is playing a heterosexual it just doesn’t ring true to me … unlike her role in Set It Off which rang totally true.
I don’t think Queen will suffer much loss of fans. The folks I know who love her (myself included) don’t love her cuz of her sexual preferences, but cuz she’s a real person in general & that just exudes off of her.
However, I do think she’ll have a problem with Hollyweird. Her career is flourishing right now & she has crossed over in more ways than one. I do think she could possibly lose some future work, by coming out, sad as that is.
Heck, even Ellen DeGeneres had some “down time” after coming out. Her talk show literally saved her career.
Yes, I think you have a point the public knows Queen Latifah is a lesbian. I mean when Ebony Magazine asks you if you are gay you know the black community knows. I think in the long run Queen Latifah will still have a very successful career. I think that’s the issue, Queen Latifah doesn’t want the drama that Ellen Degeneres went through. Also, Queen Latifah is a black lesbian so she has to consider the potential fall out with the black audience and black media. Ellen Degeneres was never a good actress she doesn’t have the range in her acting like Queen Latifah does. Although Ellen is a good comedienne. I agree though Ellen’s talk show did save her career.
i would like to say this ONE time and i would like you all to read it slowly.. homo sexuality.. is NOT the norm. it may be what YOU consider normal because YOU choose to engage in it.. but to force that behavior on people because YOU engage in it is SELFISH. to say “we should be able to do what we want and have people accepts us” is as insane as saying that people who sell drugs or molest children should be able to do what they want. again it is a DEVIANT behaviour which means OUTSIDE the norm. I am not trying to be mean but honestly.. think about the homosexual mindset in things not sexual.. you have taken the most UNIVERSAL symbol in the RAINBOW and have made it YOUR symbol.. i now have to explain to my niece and nephew that even though i love the rainbow i can not have the colors on my car or anything because i will be perceived as a homosexual.. of course you will not see my point because it is the selfishness that i am speaking about that will say “oh well”.. so that is my answer to the latifah not coming out issue or ANYONE coming out. “oh well” sex my friends is for PRO-CREATION not RECREATION. deal with it.. there are way more important things to deal with as black people .. *exits stage left*
okay, let me set this straight to everyone! personall, I am not against gay people because I had some curiousities myself when I was growing up (since elementary school). As a matter of fact, I had some experiences with women though I never lived out a relationship with women, it was just a sex thing.
However, the bible quote this in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10: Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the SEXUALLY IMMORAL, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice HOMOSEXUALITY, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
*** Like I mentioned earlier, I have been down that path a few times before and I am not passing judgement on anyone, but one day very soon we all will have to give an answer to GOD!
Okay, Black Butterfly, you do realize what you sound like? You sound like a hypocrite. What right do you have to judge gay people? So what if you believe in the bible what right do you have to tell consenting adults what we do in our private bedrooms? You say homosexuality is sexually immoral yet you admit to having same sex sexual experiences? So are you ashamed of your lesbian sexual experiences?
Hi Johnny.
You sound so very angry. No?
Can’t you pick another symbol? Car sticker or no car sticker, homosexuality should be explained to children.
“homo sexuality.. is NOT the norm. it may be what YOU consider normal because YOU choose to engage in it.. but to force that behavior on people because YOU engage in it is SELFISH. to say “we should be able to do what we want and have people accepts us” is as insane as saying that people who sell drugs or molest children should be able to do what they want.
Do you really equate the two? Wooooow.
Johnny, Ima let you have your response (if you choose to respond) and I won’t respond.
I would never do a back and forth on any blog about politics, homosexuality, abortion or religion. It’s utterly pointless.
I just felt compelled to respond to you; somewhat, anyway.
I noted your comment because you sounded FURIOUS.
I could go on and on and on. But for what?
I think Johnny wants to push my buttons but I also believe in allowing people to express themselves even though I don’t agree with their opinions. I think Johnny has a problem with black gay men but that’s his perspective. I allowed Johnny comment on the blog because I believe in the diversity of opinion. Johnny does prove my point though about homophobia. Again, there is a real fear people have for black gay men and black lesbians.
I agree with you. I feel the same way about my blog. It is important to allow people to express themselves, even if their views are contrary to our own.
Johnny sounds bored and BORING! Damn, why can’t you just let it go that people are different? Orville, just ignore him!!!
and for the record, homoPHOBIA is a FEAR of homosexuals. i don’t fear you, i dont like what you do and yes i equate homosexuality with child molestation because two homos cannot make a new homo unless they put it in the mind of young people that it is ok.
and also i am not furious. i do like this debate because again.. you label people all the time if they disagree with your lifestyle “choice.” i am not angry.. i am just hoping that you realize what you are doing is wrong and stop making excuses for it so the black FAMILY returns to what it should be. you cannot make a family with two men or two women.. just the way it is folks.. stop being selfish
Johnny — don’t you think you maybe are the one who is being ‘selfish’ by thinking that people have to conform to how you think?
aulelia,
no.
Yes – the black community knows about Queen L but the if she was to come out I think her career and public perception would change. That’s the whole point about coming out – its a declaration; its actually saying it. And this is an act in itself. Sometimes as black people we are encouraged to be repressed about just about anything and the backlash to coming out as a lesbian can be essentially anti-woman. There is an assumption that you can’t/ won’t /don’t have children and that men are excluded in your life. This is the classic archetypical roles available to black women. Mother/ Nurturer of men. And even though not everyone believes this, it is definately what current black culture is percieved as and is projecting on a global scale. If you already have the community sharing your secret willingly, I can’t see why she would want to change this – it is acceptance of the weirdest kind, but definately preferable to possible rejection and lose of work.
Hi Stella, I think you got a point about “perception”. Black people we already know Queen Latifah is gay we have a don’t ask don’t tell policy with her. After all, Hollywood is all about images about smokes and mirrors. Queen Latifah’s image in Hollywood is that she is a simply a single heterosexual woman that has yet to the meet the right guy. Queen Latifah is always saying she’s looking for a “good brother” yet we always see her with Jeanette Jenkins her lesbian lover.
You also make a good point about the black community’s perception of lesbianism. It is true some blacks think black lesbians are anti male and that is not true. Black lesbians are simply women that are not sexually attracted to men.
Hey, I found your blog because I googled gay+black+theatre. What an interesting find.
About lesbians being more accepted in white America: It’s not that we’re more socially accepted, it’s just that most straight American men, deep down in their hearts, just don’t believe lesbians really exist. I’m not sure if it’s because of the common porn plot “2 chicks get down until a dude shows up and then they both blow him” or what. But I’ve found that more often than not, guys tend to view the idea of lesbianism with that glassy-eyed hopeful gaze that says, “Hey, maybe I’ll finally get to have a three-way!”
Straight women seem to come in 2 varieties: the first category being the tolerant ladies who think you’re just like them (i.e. want to have babies, live in off-the grid-houses in the desert, etc.) These ladies are kind of wrongheaded, but harmless. Well-intentioned, even. The second group of women view lesbians as a kind of werewolf creature who could voraciously turn on them, and fuck them crazy at any moment. (All I can say to that is, ‘you wish Queen would sneak into your bedroom window one starless night, sweetie!’)
So Queen is really in danger of falling afoul of that second group of women, who seem magically able to shit out 100 angry letters before breakfast.
That’s what I worry about.
Hello Nikki your comment is really interesting. I am sure there are homophobic straight women that view lesbians as a threat to them. Also, there are heterosexual men that get turned on by lesbians but don’t have respect for lesbians. I mean I think it is okay for men to be sexually attracted to lesbians. I think the problem is when men don’t respect lesbianism and don’t really believe lesbianism exists.I guess Queen Latifah has decided she willl remains quiet because of the unknown danger of coming out? After all Hollywood is all about image and perception. Would the public image of Queen Latifah change if she came out as a lesbian? I think Queen Laitfah is worried that coming out may hurt her career.
Its interesting to see the parellels between Queen and Jodi Foster. It will be interesting to see how it affects Jodi’s career although I get the impression she doesn’t really care as she is almost at the tail end of her career whereas Queen is right in the middle of a peaking one.
Stella you make an excellent point about Jodie Foster and Queen Latifah. Both Foster and Latifah are lesbian superstars in Hollywood. Foster is now 45 years old and she recently came out of the closet. Jodie may be at the point in her career she just doesn’t care anymore she is rich, she has her Oscars, fame, and glory.
Queen Latifah is only 37 I still wish Queen would do more dramatic films to showcase her talent. Queen has the issue of race to deal with. Jodie has the liberal mainstream media that will support her. There has never ever been a black superstar celebrity that came out of the closet yet. Queen Latifah I still believe we haven’t seen her best work I believe she has so much potential to do more. So I can see Queen Latifah being quiet about being a lesbian for a while longer.
Queen Latifah all i ever wanted is to be with you because i love you so much as you are the most beautiful women you are and the most prettiest women i ever loved in my heart as you are the women i wanted to be with and i want you so much you are the women i want and i want you so much i always love you and i want my life to be with you and i need you because you are so special to me how important to me all my love for you is real i want you sweetheart and i want to get so close to you honey i love you more then ever.
Robin Morgan
Who cares what a peraons sexualitiy is as long as they are comfortable with their lives.
Johnny is an ignorant fool.
there may be many reasons to why queen latifah hasn’t been seen with a man. she may be gay but i believe there is more to the story. something nobody knows. a darker side of her life. i just hope whatever it is come to light.
Just Let Her Exist, who the hell cares!
I do i care alot i got a dark side to all my life that i Respect Queen Latifah more then ever i wanted
i care so much about her and i wish i could go out with Queen latifah and i wish i could be her Girlfriend.
Robin Morgan
I personally dont think the “Queen” should come out about her sexuality. reason being despite us moving towards an era where sexual oreintation doesnt matter, we still havent full reached that level as yet. To be quite frank its not the publics business to know who any celebrity is sleeping with or dating. Her best bet would be to keep these nosey ass people guessing, she have nothing to prove to anyone she knows who or what she likes and thats all that matters!! so if i were her i would keep them guessing!
I feel that Queen Latifah is a lesbian and that she does know that the majority of the black community may not support her as an actress or rap artist as widely as many do now simply because at the core there are still many African Americans who fundamentally believe that the gay lesbian lifestyle might be “fine” for others but still taboo and some how harmful the African American community and family structure.
I agree, it is obvious Queen Latifah is a lesbian. In fact, just last week the press have written articles about Queen Latifah hanging out at the lesbian bar “Eden” in New York City.
If she hasn’t came out, then speculations are just that, speculations. In the end, I believe that she won’t lose any respect from the black community. I mean if anything, she will gain more respect from the homosexual members of the black community, who’s numbers, as we all know, are very high. She’s a damn good actress, and that’s how she should be seen, as a professional. Her personal life is just as personal as anyone other. The question of whether or not she is a lesbian should not have even been raise, because honestly, WHO CARES what she does of camera? That is the central problem with people today, to bored with their own lives, that they have to intervene in the personal lives of others. Let’s keep it professional and criticize her acting, no what she does behind closed doors.
Do you all realize how this topic is… Idiot? It’s so ugly to talk about personal life of other people. It’s not like we had something with her life or her sexual choice. Not like a lesbian is would attack you in the middle of street because you have a vagina. Not like I would care about the 4 walls of her room.
go girl it’s ur lyf yeah
d8 any1, it’s not our business
go QUEEN we LOVE ya
I think america needs to keep their opinion of others lifwstyles to themselves everyone has something to say about someone else when they know they have their own dirty little secrets themselves so let theses ppl live their lives the way they choose to and stop judgeing them!! Renea bullard
